My favorite color is pink and my mom's favorite color is burgundy. My fiance and my mother are practically paying for everything, so the least I could do is incorporate her favorite color into our wedding theme. But, one of my bridesmaids mentioned that burgundy is too deep a color to be used for my wedding. I don't think there is anything wrong with it though. So, I need opinions. My wedding date is March 08, 2008. Its not EXACTLY spring yet, but it isn't winter either. Comments??

P.S. My fiance is ok with the colors as long as HE doesn't have to wear pink...LOL.

I think that pink and burgundy go beautifully together, and are fine for a March wedding. My first wedding was March 8th, 1980... just a few years ago ;)

You should have the colors you want, and if doing this for your mother is what you want, I think it's very sweet. Your bridesmaid can mention her opinion, but it's your opinion that matters! Have pink with burgundy accents, if you honestly feel that burgundy is too dark. I don't think it is, though. Burgundy with pink accents would be very pretty.

Congrats on your upcoming nuptials!

If you really want to go by etiquette, having a wedding after 5 pm would suite the burgundy color. Unless you are having an extravegant very formal wedding it is not necessary to pay attention to etiquette. But generally I tell brides that if their main color is going to be a deep shade and not used as the accent they should stick to a later in the evening wedding. Plus it gives you ample time for getting ready, pictures, etc. Basically it comes down to what YOU want. Darker colors are used for winter OR evening weddings. Pick your colors and stick to them, it will keep you happy in the long run. Good luck!

Pink and burgandy look gorgeous together. The bridesmaid dresses can be burgandy, and the bouquets can be filled with lots of different shades of pink flowers. Remember it is your day, and even though your mom is helping pay for the wedding, in the end you want to be satisfied completely with your wedding. What color does your fiance like? If anything, maybe combine both of your colors together so YOU TWO will be happy with the finished outcome. Good luck and many blessings to you both=)

I think burgundy and pink can go together. For example: The men could wear burgundy vest, while the girls wear a pink dress carrying burgundy flowers. The maid, as well as your mother can both wear burgundy as well.
By combinding the colors, you follow the spring (lighter colors) and winter (darker color) rules.

I dont think burgundy is too dark of a color for a wedding. If you use the color sparingly then it should look great, but you have to keep in mind that this is your wedding and not hers so if you want to use pink then go for it! I'm sure your mother wouldnt mind you picking out your colors. Good luck!

Who's wedding is it anyway? YOURS!!!!! pick what you want----you can have all the bridesmaids in variations of pink and your MOM in a beautiful Burgundy gown...and SUGGEST maybe a matching color but CONTRASTING to the grooms mom for HER gown.... the groom and groomsmen should therefore be in BLACK----as a wedding photographer, I think those colors would make BEAUTIFUL photos throughout the wedding..... YOU could even carry pink flowers in your bridal bouquet as well.

First, who's wedding is it? Pink would be a great color. If you want to consider burgundy, I would use it for accents only. I agree burgundy and the darker colors are normally used for winter. I would look at several books or websites and see what colors you do like. It is your day, do as YOU please! Congrats & good luck!

I agree with your bridesmaid but use it in the floral arrangements with the pink to lighten up the burgundy preferably at the reception on the tables. Or you can do pink see how it will look with a very light spray of burgundy on a predominantly pink flower. Please no bugundy dresses though your mom will understand.

I think the one March wedding I was in, I wore forest green and carried dark red roses and it looked fantastic.

Burgundy is a pretty color any time of year. It tones nicely with pink. If you wish to honor your mother by using her favorite color in your scheme, I think that's a lovely and graceful gesture.

Thank your bridesmaid for her advice and stick to your plan. It's going to be very pretty.

Use burgundy ribbon on your bouquet. The burgundy and the pink will be good together, maybe consider deep red flowers for the boutineers, red roses perhaps. Or you could do a dark red table cloth on each table.
