Is taking a non-confrontational stand a self denying feat?

What of those evil deeds beyond comprehension?

Evil exist from the actions we make, we reap what we sow and grow. A child may be evil, but that evil comes from his lack of education, lack of love, and lack of faith.

My Pastor has done pray sessions in prison. He says even the atheists on death row would like a pray before they go!

No. And atheists are not "unwilling to accept God." Atheists do not believe there is a God, period. It's that simple. There's no grand idea behind it, like "we fear the existence of evil".
God is YOUR idea. It's YOUR belief. It has nothing to do with us. Believers present a completely implausible idea to us regarding invisible supernatural beings, and can't provide any evidence of truth for any of it. Therefore, we don't believe them.
And as for the "evil" that exists...evil is man-made. You can't deny it exists. Yes, we fear evil as much as anyone else. We just don't believe in "evil" as a supernatural element. We're able to put blame where it belongs...on the people responsible. Not on invisible boogeymen.

Who really knows the thoughts and the intent of any man except God!

God does not exist in evil. There is more to God than meets the eye.

Does anyone actually know the mind and thoughts of our Lord?

Has man ever gotten it right, anything about the Lord of life?

The word is true but still man stands to question.

Why worry about an Atheist? God is not an argument; he is not the problem. He is the solution. Plan and simple.

John 3:16 God so loved the world that he gave his Son...and so on.

It is a salvation or eternal life issue. Do you want it are not?

I think that I fully recognize the existence of evil (like, say, the God of the Old Testament, the perennial charlatan and bully. Why would being an atheist make a person incapable of this?

So you're saying they are evil or weak, simply because they categorically deny the existence of a higher power? Perhaps its because their world view might be different than yours or mine, embracing only that which is logical and understood by the limited bandwidth of human intelligence. They think good and evil is a personal choice, rather than a supernatural choice . . . and then, well, it just gets short-circuited further along that line of reasoning.

Black Sabbath---"Heaven and Hell"

Sing me a song, you're a singer
Do me a wrong, you're a bringer of evil
The Devil is never a maker
The less that you give, you're a taker
So it's on and on and on, it's Heaven and Hell, oh well
The lover of life's not a sinner
The ending is just a beginner
The closer you get to the meaning
the sooner you'll know that you're dreaming
So it's on and on and on, oh it's on and on and on
It goes on and on and on, Heaven and Hell
I can tell, fool, fool!
Well if it seems to be real, it's illusion
For every moment of truth, there's confusion in life
Love can be seen as the answer, but nobody bleeds for the dancer
And it's on and on, on and on and on....
They say that life's a carousel
Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of Kings and Queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
It's Heaven and Hell, oh well
And they'll tell you black is really white
The moon is just the sun at night
And when you walk in golden halls
You get to keep the gold that falls
It's Heaven and Hell, oh no!
Fool, fool!
You've got to bleed for the dancer!
Fool, fool!
Look for the answer!
Fool, fool, fool!

Isn't evil just an expression created by humans to demonstrate the absence of god? If the same is true for the words "dark" and "cold", would it not be the same?

Well, first of all, being an atheist tends to be very confrontational. To make matters worse, I am not just an atheist, but an anti-theist, meaning that I not only don’t believe in the existence of god, I believe that the belief in a god is detrimental to human development and society. You could almost think of me as an evangelical-atheist. Now you can’t get much more confrontational then that.

As are as good and evil, atheist believe in evil, we see it all the time, particularly when it comes to theistic religions, their history, practices and attitudes. We just don't believe in the existence of an evil entity or an entity of good. Note because we don’t want to believe in forces of good or evil, but because they don’t exist or more accurately, because there is absolutely no proof that they exist.

One of the responses I often get to this from people is that there is not proof that god does not exist either. This is a true statement. Then again, there is no proof that Egyptian or any other gods do not exist, such as Zeus, Odin, etc... There is no proof that Unicorns do not exist, there is no proof that wizards do not exist. there is no proof that giants do not exist and my favorite, there is absolutely no proof that Dragons do not exist. For that matter, there is no proof that werewolves, vampires or giant man-eating blobs from outer space don’t exist either. Oh! But wait, if you are a Christian and you use the bible for your proof in god, then you MUST believe that the Egyptian gods are real and that giants, wizards, unicorns and dragons do exist because they are all mentioned in the bible repeatedly. Here is just one example of each: Egyptian gods (Exd 12:12); Giants (1Ch 20:8); Wizard(Lev 20:27); Unicorn (Job 39:9); Dragons (Isa 27:1) As for werewolves, vampires and the rest, well, hey, there is just as much evidence for their existence and for god.

So, no proof against the existence of god is not evidence for his existence. However, if there were an all knowing, all seeing, all loving god who created all things and loved man, then why would he make belief in him so difficult. After all, did Jesus not let Thomas touch his wounds as proof of who he was. When do I get to see incontrovertible proof? Then there is the entire Jesus thing. I mean god is suppose to be all powerful and able to do anything including making his will manifest, after all, he created the world and the entire universe and EVERYTHING in it, right? So not only did he deliberately set man up to fail by creating the angels that betrayed him, including the devil, and not only did he make a talking snake and put it in the garden of Eden and not only did he place a tree of knowledge in the middle of the garden to tempt man, or in this case woman who was created to tempt man anyway. But, after man discovered sin, god then had to make himself a man, come to earth by impregnating a woman. (who by the way was engaged) And then, he had to sacrifice himself or else man could not be saved from the sin that god placed in front of him and punished him with in the first place. Oh come on! How can anyone buy into this crap. It's comical.

So NO! atheists (and Anti-Theists) do not disbelieve because we fear evil, but because god is a mythical being like Zeus, Odin or Ra with absolutely no bases in reality and no proof to back it up.

In fact, for the most part, it is our contention that people that believe in god do so for one of three reasons.
1 - They are afraid of what would happen if they didn’t. (Hell)
2 - They are afraid of the unknown such as not knowing why are they alive, what happens when people they know or they themselves die, how did people come to be.
3 - They are afraid of being alone. At least with a god you have a fuzzy warm feeling that you never have to be alone. Even in death you have god and family and friends waiting for you.

Then there is a commonly accepted fourth reason: Because that is how they were raised and they never really gave any real thought as to what may or may not be real.

My point, fear is usually a motivation FOR religion, not for atheism.

I hope this helps.

Do Theists believe in God in order to avail themselves of their fear of death?

Evil is to be loathed not feared; to be repudiated and avoided.

A person of average morality need not fear evil, but should take comfort in human solidarity.

Why should any person of average intelligence embrace a deity in order to comfort themselves. Surely the most sensible reason to believe in a deity is on weight of evidence that suggest its veracity, not on some notion of therapy.

Does evil exist? Or is it just the absence of goodness?

There is no such thing as cold, just absence of heat.

Think about it. If evil doesn't exist, then by your logic neither does god.

they are not taking a non confrontational stand... from my point of view (not an atheist) they are confronting the evil of this world when they speak to christians. the reason evil has not been uncovered is because the only people warning us about him are those working for him.... wolves in sheeps clothing... every one of them...
