The more educated you are the less likely you are to believe in god?

This is supported by countless studies

If they wanted to address it, they could try focusing on the things Christ was actually supposed to have preached about. Stuff like kindness, charity, love of others, peace, humility, etc. Things that actually benefit mankind. Instead of glorifying ignorance and bigotry and spreading falsehoods about science. Repeating the same debunked claims over and over makes creationists look like idiots, and runs the risk of driving away intelligent people.

There are some Christian groups that are leaning in this direction. Why the others don't follow suit, I'm not sure. Some unscrupulous religious leaders find it easier to make money from the uneducated and gullible. Others, perhaps, have sold their souls for political gain. And then there's the self-sustaining part of the trend: As educated people abandon religion, religion becomes more ignorant and anti-intellectual, which drives off more educated people.

That is a fair statement so need to apologize for that.

Faith is what most children are brought up in as well as trust. They see the world as possiblities and anything is possible, including the knowledge of God. And they have open and honest faith.

But the more one learns about life, the more their world is filled with man and all his unbelief and skepticism. And so much of that is found in the "educated" parts of man. That part of the fruit that is in them, the sin, that they know more than God and all this faith stuff, that they were taught as kids.

The supported studies of man, what a mighty number that was, just as many false prophets that withstood lone Elijan.

I suggest you learn from those that are less educated and school smart. And understand that so many have a faith not built up in books, but in the hard knock school of life. There are many more of those types of people. That are not even listed in the statistics you site. And I would wager that they've never been surveyed.

There once was a story that went...A was well educated college student who visited a small village and needed to cross a river that was very wide and rushing during the Spring time. And he asked this elderly boat man "Help me cross the river". And the arogant student asked the boat man "Can you read?" And the Old man said "No" and continued rowing. And student told him "Well you have wasted one third of your life". And halfway across the prideful student asked him "Can you write?". And again the Old boat man said "No". And the student said "Well you have wasted another third of your life".

And when they almost got across the current got rough. And the boat turned over and threw them both into the water, and the current was fast. And the Old boat man asked him in the few seconds that passed "Old wise student can you swim?" And the student held his head up just to say "NOOOO". And the Old boat man swam and saved his own life and thought to himself "Well he lost all of his life".

It's what you know at the end of life that matters most. I doubt the education of man will count so much in the eyes of God.

I think that when Jesus taught the taught to the people not just the intellectuals. People are just like then. The more educated you get the less simplistic it gets, it gets debated and scrutinized for errors and the wisdom of the world has to be rejected. Faith plays a part and some are so educated they reject anything they cannot prove scientifically. Paul ran into this in Athens. He spoke and they wanted to hear more later and some mocked him. Everyone must accept God and be able to believe.

You cite no source, which certainly does not impress one with your own level of education. You do not even indicate if you are referring to "countless studies" referencing the U.S. or approaching the matter globally. The Church has, over a two thousand year period, educated more people than any other single institution. If you are referring to the U.S.,only fundamentalists would score low on education. Catholics,Episcopalians and Lutherans would all score well on education and socioeconomic status. Again, without any source,it is not possible to seriously address your assertion. However,in my experience atheists tend to be lower-income,poorly-educated oafs who live in trashy neighborhoods and like to get in a lot of bar fights. I haven't meant many at my own socioeconomic level. I'm professional-level and most of my colleagues are Catholic,Jewish,Muslim,or mainstream Protestant. I don't think I know a single one without a strong religious affiliation. Incidentally,a mere glance at the atheist postings provides more than enough information as to their level of education. Most of the atheists on R&S are either extremely young - in junior high - or dropped out of high school around that age. Your own posting certainly does not proceed from any person with any kind of degree.

Educated or Uneducated we all need the saving grace of Jesus Christ.....

True as this may be we should still extend God's unchanging word to them and let the Holy Spirit do the drawing.

Acts chapter 10 verse 34-35 and it reads,
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth i perceived that God is no respector of persons.
But in every nation he that feareth him and worketh righteousness is accepted with him.

because "knowledge" as we know it is an earthly human trait and being "of the earth" we lose ability to be in touch with God - it's part of the reason for ditching all of one's worldly possessions to go off on a soul searching pilgrimage for instance

placing importance on the worldly (money, cars, bimbos, knowledge, amorous "love", etc) which do nothing to sanctify the connection our souls have with God

any attempt to define ANYTHING into minutae will lead to ultimate failure - the more something is "defined" the less definition it has - even in science -

for example - it was once heralded that lo and behold scientists discovered the smallest particle known in the universe: the molecule -

then lo and behold we looked deeper and discovered the atom - the immutable object

then lo and behold we started smashing atoms and found out that they are composed of smaller and smaller parts that ultimately (in our current understanding) are really made of nearly nothing at all other than pure energy - no form, no shape, no sense, no pattern, nothing really - and what up with Schoendenger's cat? (sp?)

the only reason science is supposedly immune to failure is that it does not deal with absolutes - only in reduction of the outcomes to the most likely - which Schrondhgghgghhgrrrr's cat says is entirely up to our faith! we shape reality!

There is no difference between religion and science - the best we can do as humans is to acknowledge that none of us really know jack sh!t and to just let us each live peaceably - love your neighbor - don't kill anyone - Love - use the gifts you have - tend our global garden - and just say "please and thank You"

I would say, the bible backs that up. It says, not many noble, not many great, will enter the kingdom of heaven. God's word says....He gives wisdom to the simple.

To repent of sin, to know that one needs a savior, is something that takes humility. Many people are very enamored of their own intellect, the "knowledge" they have gained. It is much more difficult for a person like this to humble themselves. Not all....but many.

Well, may the force be with them and their studies...

But.......it is not the educated that Jesus goes to, when he starts preaching,,,,he knew that all the knowledge in the world was not going to help them get to Heaven..the gospel is spiritually discerned....you don't find God with your intellect, you find him with your heart and soul..a lot of well educated people will miss Heaven because they don't understand this fact..

"Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:12-13 NIV)." "Then you will... " When? When we get selfishness and self-will out of the way; when we want NOTHING but God's will, when we seek him with our whole heart. Then we will find him, then we will call upon him and he will answer
