Thousand Oaks has a population just a little over 100,000. I is surrounded by Westlake, Oak Park and agoura. It's overall population hovers around 120,000. It the Conejo Valley, as they call it, is surrounded by the Santa Monica Mountains on one side and the Simi hills to the other. It is politically Conservative. Amgen is the largest employer in the area so a degree in bio chem is a good idea.
But check out its own web page and do a goggle search about the community.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: YOU MAKE SURE YOU CAN AFFORD THE RENT OR THE COST OF HOUSING BEFORE YOU EVEN THINK OF MOVING HERE.

I grew up in TO. The population has increased tremendously in the past 20 yrs and has become very upscale and expensive. The lower priced areas were seedy when I lived there, don't know if they've been cleaned up. Its more of a city, you really won't find too many areas with the small town feel. I suggest you look at the city of Ventura if you want something like that. Also, TO gets very hot in the summer.

Thousand Oaks is up scale community in Ventura County. You will find most homes there to be quite expensive. Most homes are more modern because it is a rapidly growing community. If you can afford it, it is usually listed in the top 10 safest areas of southern California.

The contributor "Copestir" is more knowledgeable about this area. Hopefully she will also post an answer. If she does you can trust her reply to be quite accurate.

I agree with everyone above, but will add that it is nicer than much of Los Angeles and still more affordable than other nearby areas such as Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, and Calabasas. If you can go just about anywhere, I would head for Ventura also.
