Kind of. When you get them put on, do NOT make the same mistake i made, wear chapstick, you will have your lips be separated and if you don't wear chapstick it will feel as if the dentist is slowly ripping your lips apart. This is how they get put on:
*1. Your teeth are cleaned and dried.
*2. A special "glue" is put on yor teeth.
*3. Each bracket is put on each tooth one by one.
*4.The glue is dried with this special UV light.
*5. The wire is then put on, help by the ligatures, or, if you are getting speed or damon braces, connected through the little hole.
And now, here's your list of do's and don'ts with your braces:
Do's:
*Brush your teeth every day
*For the first days, eat soft foods.
*If at school, use mouthwash at least.
*Floss at least once daily.
*Take Tylenol 1 hour before they get put or immediately after they get put.
*Wear chapstick
Don'ts:
*Don't eat hard, sticky or gooey foods.
*Don't chew gum with sugar. (Try trident sugarless gum,it's good for your teeth and it tastes good.)
*Don't touch your braces too much or you might break them.
*Don't rub your tongue against your braces, you might cut your self.
*Don't chew on pencils or erasers.
*Don't bite your nails.
*Don't eat popcorn.
Remember: Braces work by applying pressure to your teeth. If your teeth are uncomfortable and feel like their being pressured, that's a GOOD thing.
Colors:
Try getting colors to match upcoming holidays such as green and red for Christmas. Don't be afraid to mix it up and express your self! Also, theres something new called braces jacketz and it's these clip-on things that have letters and sings, heres the link: http://www.bracketjacketz.com/home.html!...
Good luck and remember,it's worth it in the end!
PS:I have braces!
So ya that's all I could think of now if there's more I'll add it.
I almost forgot, if your braces start cutting you then go to:http://www.dentakit.com/cocoforbr.html..... to buy a comfort cover, they really work!
All in all,
Don't worry hun, you'll be OK!!

I got braces about 2 months ago and its really not that bad. Just sit in the chair and be calm, and it will be over before you know it. Afterwards you will have a lot of pain. I would recommend taking some Tylenol or Advil to help relieve the pain. After about a week the pain will be gone and you will be fine. Just be careful on what you eat because you don't want to ruin your braces. I hope I helped!

It is not a painful process. You wont feel it. My experience was i went in, they put the lip stretchers on(they are comfortable) they marked the center of my teeth with a pencil, then they started glueing the brackets on. They did the uppers first then the lowers. After they get those on, they put your wire on, then if you have wire ligatures or the colored ligatures. I had wire lig's to begin with but now i have both because my wires like to migrate. Take some tylenol before you go to your appt, use the restroom because i sat there for 2 hours and had to break in the middle. Use the wax they give you, clean your teeth really well, get a water pik this aids in getting alot of food out of your brackets and rinse with warm salt water. This will help heal and toughen your tender areas in your mouth

its not a big deal. im getting my braces off tomorrow and im happy yet sad. its weird getting braces at first i bet youll be moving your tounge along your teeth to feel your braces all the time. dont eat really sticky food in public cause they WILL get stuck and its really embarrasing.. when they first put it on you can feel the pressure on your teeth but it doesnt hurt. it didnt hurt when i first got my braces but within 4 months they started puting power chains on and it hurt like heck for about 4 days. dont worry. youll be like every other person. now a days everyone wears braces

it's a little nervewracking, sitting in that chair while they're in your mouth. but it doesn't hurt to get them on, just tastes awful!! just stay calm, and think of happy thoughts. lol
i would suggest having Tylenol on hand the next week or so (not advil! it stops the teeth from moving!) because your teeth will hurt! it will take a while to get used to the feeling, but after a week or so, you don't even notice anymore!
have fun!

dont worry, its not a big mess the first time you get them on. they'll prob put the brackets on your teeth first and on ur next appt the actual wire. the process can be funn especially when you get to choose all the fun colors to put on ur teeth. when they first put on ur wires, your teeth will be sore and you'll prob have to eat soup for the first couple days but the "pain" goes away.
