You can typically identify people of various faiths by the way they dress. Why do Christians look like the world?
How would you know what a Christian looked like if there weren't carrying a Bible and on their way from church?
In other words, what would make you say "you see that young lady/young man, thats a Christian!"
Please serious replies only....I'm very interested to see what you have to say.

Let's clarify! Women for example: short skirt, chest revealing top, does that look like a Christian?
Men for example: sloppy dressing, jeans hanging off your behind, does that look like a Christian?
Neat, clean, modest, simple, meek and humble is the picture I get when I think of Jesus and the Apostles..in this generation should we expect different?? Times have changed yet principles are eternal, are they not? We are to be in the world not OF THE world. Speak on it

There is not one thing that can describe what a Christian looks like on the outside. In Galatians; Paul went to great lengths, even to the point of rebuking Peter and calling him a hypocrite. Paul, writing Gods Word makes it quite clear that it doesn't matter what a persons stature, looks or how well they follow the law, A Person cannot be a Christian until the accept the gospel of Jesus Christ.BY FAITH.Then when a person believes they are filled with the Holy Spirit. Only God knows what we really look like.So it doesn't matter what a Christian looks like as long as they believe the good news of Christ and His love and Forgiveness His death , Resurrection and His return.Of course a person saved will always have to tell someone else that becomes our nature.

Many have already said it so well. You may be able to tell what church a person belongs to because of a dress code they follow. But that only tells you that they are "true" what denomination it is. To tell a true Christian it is what is inside. It is the fruit they bare. Some have said you can't see in the heart only God can.
Well I would like to add that if the light of Christ burns within you. It is something you can not hide. Look at like this the body is a house. The Lord is the lights inside. If the world is covered in darkness then this light will shine out. It will be a beacon to others. It seems as if many Christians will know this light since it is in them as well. Some non-believers will be drawn to it even though they don't know what it is. And some other non-believers will hate it and what it put out. I always pray that my light will shine bright and be a comfort to others.
Yours in Christ,
Miss Mona

There's a song that says "what would my life say if I said nothing at all?" In my experience, you can tell very quickly if someone is truly a Christian, not only by what they do and say, but what they don't do and say. Actions speak louder than words. Even though most people don't know the first thing about Jesus, they will recognize that there's something different about a true follower of Christ. They think before speaking, have a peace that comes from being in a continual prayer relationship with Jesus, and a wisdom that comes from being continually in His Word - the Bible. Their speech will be pure, their actions above reproach - even and especially with the "little" things, like being on time for work, and not cutting corners.
I am a Christian, and my goal and prayer every day is that I will live my life in such a way that others will know there is something different about me. We are to be imitators of Christ in every way and, if we pursue that by actively pursuing a love relationship with Jesus, that will shine through even and especially when we say nothing. By being examples of Christ in our daily lives, we will "draw all men unto Him".

I think to a certain extent that it is kind of difficult to tell the difference nowadays. I, myself, am a christian and I don't wear revealing clothing...but then again I don't dress completely covered either. I think that there are alot of christians who don't dress appropriately in God's eyes...simply because they are unaware that dressing too provocatively is not what God wants us to do! I know that it talks about modesty in the Bible...but even so, no one is perfect...and we don't have the right to judge them, only God does. But a true Christians "light" shines from within their hearts, and that is the easiest way to tell whether someone is a Christian or not..... Very hard to tell by what they wear sometimes!

There is no dress code (despite some insistence to the contrary), so if you are looking for a uniform or similar visual clue, real Christians are effectually invisible: They come in all colors, races, hair styles, and attires.
What you are looking for is not in their clothing (and as for what you were saying about "carrying a Bible", most don't walk around with them in a holster or something), but as Christ Himself said, "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:35)
Now, note how many have found the urge to jeer at this overwhelming (even see other answers to your question for examples of this). But do not be fooled -- There are many such true Christians out there everywhere.
But they're not the noisy ones, so it is easy to miss them.

A real Christian does the right thing, not the cool or "hip" thing. I'm a teen, and I do my best to stay doing the right thing. I don't get alone with the opposite gender. Heck, I don't even have a girlfriend so I'm not tempted with her. A real Christian looks like anyone else, but acts completely different. They wear modest clothing that doesn't show so much skin that people stare... And they dont' cuss because it's acceptable, they don't do it because God says not to. Plus, them going to church also doesn't make them a Christian. Eating at McDonald's doesn't make you a cheeseburger. Catch my drift?

I am one of those people would get offended if someone told me that I had to dress a certain way in order to be a Christian. They would be able to count on my showing up in my Aerosmith concert shirt the next time.
You can see all sorts of ways people dress if you go to a mega Church on Sunday. I think that would give you a pretty good idea as to what you are asking for.

You are falling into the same trap as the rest of the world---prejudice. You can no more tell if a person is a christian by the way they dress anymore than you can tell if someone is Jewish by the way they dress.
Christianity is about a personal relationship with Christ not about a particular brand of clothing or style. Being a Christian is more about a heart change than a clothing change.

Christian look like anyone else on the outside but on the inside there is Jesus who will lead them into doing things that are good. By your fruit you should know them or in other words by what are they doing with thier lives. The fruit that I speak of is in Galations 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

guy, which would be a annoying question. Christians won't be able to be differentiated from different persons definitely... on account that Christians come from all walks of existence, all nationalities, and whatnot. In my united states, the Philippines, working example, the place most of the everybody is Christians... you will possibly see a huge selection of appearances. The previous adult men and ladies folk serving on the church and praying rosaries... the ladies folk with their veils, scapulars, and bibles, and the adult men with them, serving on the communion. the young human beings - each and all the collectively as conforming to the present vogue norms - assembly up in parochial seminars and prayer vigils... The businessmen and the intellectuals, the college instructors and the staff... Even the poorest of the undesirable, the hip-hop, the emo, the pupil, the grade-schooler, and a great number of greater... you will see many aspects of Christian visual charm in our united states. in case you want i might desire to deliver you pictures of the Christians right here and how they supply the impression of being and stay their lives... so which you will possibly be able to desire to verify them in finished shade. yet on the top of the day... it is sparkling that as Christians, visual charm isn't that substantial. it extremely is the religion and the thought that concerns, not the clothing. Peace. - advert MAJOREM DEI GLORIAM -
