Yes it can work. I have been in a long distance relationship since april with a girl. We see each other every week, 2 weeks, or a month depending. The longest we have been apart is one month and the shortest has been only a few days. So it depends. She lives 2 hours away, so that isn't too bad.

One thing that has been rocky though in this relationship has been trust. Not seeing each other we both have been constantly suspicious that the other is cheating. If you don't live with the person it is hard to know.

That is why we were going to move in together at one point, so we could trust each other and be together, but circumstances are prevanting that temporarily.

I think long distance relationships can work if you do everything in your power to make it last. If you call eachother all the time and e-mail a lot you might have success in your relationship. I also think sending eachother gifts all the time is another good idea as well. Plus you have to see eachother more than once a year. Visiting eachother I think is a good way to make the relationship last. You also have to have trust in eachother because when to people live far away theirs always room for meeting someone else. If you trust that neither one of you will cheat then that's a great. I bet some people in long distance relationships do cheat. Eventually if you do make the relationship last someone has to move closer to their partner. If you can make the relationship last then, I think it's great. Not everyone believes in long distance relationships. Maybe that's because they wouldn't know how to make them work. I don't think it leads to chaos unless you and your partner are unfaithful to one another!!

Well if you really do love someone then you can make it work but for the most part its horrible because you can never see the person and cheating is a giant problem no matter who you are. So in the end if you think that you'll eventually have something great happen then by all means go for it. Just think ahead about your relationship

Many people like to say that don't work. They can work. I am in one right now. As a matter of fact, I'm engaged. My fiance is in the military and is now in Iraq.

Long distance relationships require a lot of communication, understanding, and trust. You really have to work at it, but it was worth all of the effort.

Depends on how long the time apart is going to be. If it's a month or 2, then there shouldn't be a problem. If you're talking longer than a few months, all it's going to do is make you both pretty depressed. And the longer you're apart, the more thoughts like "Is he/she seeing someone else?" are going to pop up. If you really love the person, you should be able to let them go.

Long distance relationship just works for people who are deeply in love with each other. I was in this situation before. It was really hard for me. When I needed him, he couldn't be there for me. It might work if you move to her state and live with her or she gonna do that.
