My cat has an affinity for one of my house plants. Today I came home and she's chewed an entire branch off of this thing. When she gets up to chew on it, I'll spray her with water, but she continues to assault it. Is there anything natural and non-toxic that I can do to the plant that will keep her from destroying it?

Apple Bitter spray will work. Also try putting double sided sticky tape near the plant, when she steps on it to get to the plant she wont go over there anymore.

My kitten does this. Get a squirt bottle and squirt them whenever they start chewing on the plant. Never let her get away with it. And when you put the spray bottle down, put it next to the plant, it works like a threat. That's the best way to do it, from all the things that I've tried.

My neighbor's cat does this to my plants. Put a small dab of ammonia * not vinegar* on each of the plants leaves. The cat will think that another cat has been there, and stay away. Vinegar will attract your cat, seeing as cats' pheremones smell like vinegar, making your kitty horny with the plant. Ammonia has kept cats out of my garden!

I dont think you should punish her if all she wants is to chew on some d@mn plants. Go out and buy her something she can chew on so she leaves the other plants alone.

If your cat is eating your plants then it means she is craving greens. She will stop once that need is fulfilled. You can buy kitty grass kits at pet stores. They are inexpensive and are very healthy for your cat. Once you have that taken care of, there are repellents that you can spray on your pots so that your cat doesn't want to go near them.

have you tried mixing water with a little white vinegar to spray the cat with? some cats don't mind the water. both of our cats have gotten in to a whole lot of stuff, we asked the breeder we got the cats from what to do and she explained about some cats not minding the water and that it is okay to mix some vinegar with the water. It won't hurt the cat either, at least give it a try. Hope this helps!!

Put aluminum foil on the ground around the plant. Cats hate that!

You might want to put the plant somewhere she can't get it while you are out of the house, then continue your spray technique when you are home. Spraying her when she nibbles it is fine, but you're not always there when she is nibbling.

Also, we picked up some wheatgrass/catgrass to encourage our cats to eat the catgrass and not our houseplants.

Apple Bitter. Get it at your local vet or farm supply store. Spray the plant. =)
