I mean let's face it, the ONLY place god exists is in the pages of a book of fiction. So quoting that book of fiction to prove the existence of a fictional character, is like my quoting The Lord of the Rings in order to prove the existence of Frodo.
So why would someone answer a question with the following;
Dear Yoda,
Mark4:11-12.
God Bless and change you!
I don't get it. Please explain how a passage from a book of bronze age mythology, proves that a deity exists?
Of course the answer is simple if you actually think about it; it doesn't. What it does, is draw attention away from reality. Thankfully, It doesn't work anymore.
But really, who falls for this stuff anymore? How gullible does one have to be to fall for it?

mrs, sexy pants,
Tell you what, give me ONE single shred of credible evidence that supports the existence of god, and I might believe you.
Until that happens though....

I have never understood why Christians continue to use Bible quotes as "evidence" to discuss something with someone who does not believe the Bible is divinely inspired. They don't seem to get the fact that we do not consider it valid evidence.
I like your parallel with Lord of the Rings.
Frodo lives!!!

Man has a lot of questions------God has all the Answers; Why not go to His Word, and find out what (He) God has already said? Man"s intellect
alone can never please God; The Fear (Reverance) of God is the Beginning of Wisdom,
Some "Learned" People have skiped the First Step;As in Life there are three steps to any Solution; #1 Problem( includes Diagonisis)
#2 the Remedy( Fix) #3 Test (Trials)
Man is always wanting to take a short cut,He hasn"t dealt with the first area ,so the next two areas will be far from the course;This will work on any Profession;Doctor or Jet Aircraft Mech;But concept comes from the Word of God/ God the best Friend I have ever had;

I wouldn't use the Bible to try to convince a non-believer of something, only to to explain my own viewpoint. I know "the bible says so" isn't gonna work with someone who believes the Bible is fictional.
I see what you're saying, but I'm a Christian, and if you want to know my opinion about something, expect to hear from the Bible. It is the infallible truth to some people. I don't expect a Bible quote to convince you or change your mind, only to help you understand where I'm coming from.

your arrogance and anger is the only thing you have to offer, as far as I can tell. Every time I see a question from you I automatically get defensive because you are so haughty and rude. Maybe try asking respectfully next time and people on this forum will return the favor. If all you can offer is rude smart-allecky comments and insults as a cover for your own intellectual shortcomings, then I'm inclined to think you don't really know what you are talking about....you're just mad and religion is an easy target for your venom.
EDIT : James W is very right

Whats your question about God? God is within you-what do you want others to prove?
One fine day-mark my words-it will be YOUR statement, confessing everything and agreeing about HIM!
GOD doesnt exist in books or any materialistic thing-but only within a human being! Try going within, and you will definitely go-atleast to prove yuorself right!
RIGHT!
May God Bless you-and give you the wisdom!

Using your analogy I would not tell someone to read The Hardy Boys,Star Wars, or Pirates of the Caribbean to find out about Frodo.
I would take you to the source In the same way if I wanted to share something about God, Jesus or the Spirit I would take you to the source. C.S. Lewis wrote " the Lion Witch and the Wardrobe" as a story for his niece it was a fantasy which has led others to God

You have attacked the Bible--in your somewhat bemused opinion the Bible is trash. Might I remind you that esteemed Universities teach this book and offer masters degrees and doctorates in that book alone--and you with your learned stupidity now say that a book that has stood for centuries is a fallacy. You might also decry that Universities also teach the Bible in Literature--Physical Geography--Archeology
I'm afraid you have overstated your belief for me. Each person has an opportunity to accept or reject the Bible and right now you are in a minority, BTW Religious questions should be answered from the best source for knowledge of God. Your argument makes no sense--It would be like me saying explain Darwinism (don't use any science material or literature to explain.) If you think that is ridicules--you have an idea of how ridiculous your question is to a christian. A total lack of the knowledge of Philosophy of Religion.

Because they just believe, it doesn't have to make sense or have a rhyme or reason, they just believe. It is a shame though that they can not discuss it anyway because if they could they may learn something and could possibly teach something and then everyone would gain some kind of knowledge on something and at the very least we could find ourselves living in a world where a human being can just live and let live. ****, I need a beer. Have a good day.

I think the true height of intellectual cowardice is reserved only for those people who ask if God exists and depends on someone else to answer that for them.
Find out for yourself, is what I say. I can't do your homework for you, but I can sure point you to the source that tells you to look for yourself in the Bible. There you will find the how and the why it's up to you to find out for yourself if God exists.
God says to come unto him, if you truly are seeking for him.

Your question is particular in regards to the religious texts... yet i might want to stray into the conventional approximately quoting sources that would additionally save on with to non secular texts... you settle for and quote the mathematics /medical definitions as taught to you because of the fact they have been generated via persons expertised in the sphere... even in much less researched fields like historic previous and literature the place the researchers ought to be counted on plenty hypothetical techniques (in the absence of foolproof approaches) and nonetheless we quote their findings... in concerns of religion that governs faith and mysticism additionally we are in a position to not generate self sufficient view in the absence of any awareness in the determining of summary events and interpreting them... merely because of the fact the religions have been the reason for conflicts - against the specific reason of the founders who had cherished to evangelise civility and tolerance - it would desire to not be sensible to view them as dogmatic... many sceptics of shown integrity and honesty have got here across the eternal truths informed in countless religious texts to be genuine... to be greater specific, in a e book entitled Spirit and the recommendations written via a Psychiatrist Dr samuel Sandeiss, MD, the author expenses from an interview had via a proclaimed atheist (and chief editor of a communist weekly in India) with the main suitable residing mysitic Sri Sathya Sai Baba... and how the former is pushed to settle for the latter as God Possessed...! except there became good substance in the message of the holy guy, the discovered interviewer became not liable to settle for the least little factor of any message surpassed directly to him... so it extremely is not naive to choose for proclammations of religious texts in the main suitable and proper contexts without being blind to the genuine import of the quote..

well, naturally, those who believe in the Bible do not believe that it's a "book of fiction or of bronze age mythology" sir.
and he's not just in this BOOK, he's everywhere. why you choose to ignore or deny his existence is your choice, of course, just as it is MY choice to plainly see and accept him.
what i don't understand is why people like you, either atheist or christian, feel the need to put others down for their beliefs, or lack there of. why can't we just accept that there are those who believe and those who don't & also accept the fact that there are those who can be convinced and those who will not be convinced?
does it have to be a fight? i think not. i'm okay w/ the fact that there are believers, and there are non believers.
