do you practice "tough love" when dealing with a friend whom you know is wrong in their conviction or path?
not necessarily in reference to religion or spirituality or non belief, but in their choices, their paths, their ideas?

I have sometimes told friends things they didn't want to hear.
But I would rather an unpleasant truth to a comfortable lie, any day. And I know that my friends like and respect that I will always be honest with them too.

I always try to be honest if I really think they're heading down a path where they could hurt themselves or others. But there are times when you simply have to stand back and let a person make a mistake - sometimes that's the only way they learn (it's the only way I learned a few things) - and be there for them when it's done.

Love is Love...it is not Soft or Tough...because love doesn't flinch. It doesn't shy away from telling the truth or helping, it stands firm in the face of hate and all the evil hatefull things in the world. Love is part truth and is always hard. I know that it will be hard, I have faced this path myself several times in the last year, but it is important that you do what you know is right and remember through everything that you are doing this because you love them...not to make them hurt or to attack them...

I'll pray that god gives you guidance and peace...

Yes I have told my friends things they may not want to hear when it was the truth. I also told them no matter what I'd be there for them to lean on when they needed it.

I think my strength shows through whether I'm being a friend, a doctor or whatever.
