I had a friend lined up to take care of my kitten while I'm out of town and she called me today to back out and said her reason is that her cat will "force" my kitten into heat. Can this happen or is she just using it as an excuse?

This is just an excuse. 8 week old kittens do not have heats. And I have never heard of a cat 'forcing' another cat into heat. That's just ridiculous!

That is an excuse! Cats don't have their first heat until between 4 and 6 months.

No, only the cat's age will force it into heat and two months is way too young for that to happen.

Four months would be the earliest she would be likely to come into heat. Most do between four and six months old.

It's an excuse, your friend doesn't want to watch your cat most likely.

it is an excuse. an 8 week old kitten is wayyyy to young to go into heat. or else, it would go into heat when it was with its mom too.
shes just lying. i have a cat and she went into heat at the age of a year.

Ha! Uh, no. Kittens can't go into heat until 4-6 months old. Your friend is a goober.

A cat that young should not be in heat.
What do they mean force.
Is the cat "jumping" it or is it really in heat with blood and all that fun stuff?
If the cat is just getting 'jumped" thats not being in heat.

no, it won't force a kitten into heat. that'd be like forcing a little girl to get her period by being around an menstruating adult. utter nonsense!

I am no cat expert, but it seems weird to me that an animal or anything for that matter could be forced into heat.....
