Everyone has a tattoo of them and some call it a lilly, others call it a lotus... Someone tell me what the difference is...

a lotus is a type of water lily, it is called a "sacred water lily" the term water lily is just to describe the general flower. there are many different types. like a "rose" there are tons of different types of roses.

Besides the leaves, the actualy flowers vary in size. The water lily is only the size of your hand while the lotus flower is the size of your arm.

The leaves of the water lily sits on the water, but the lotus rises and its leaves sit up to four feet above the water. Read more on the site referenced.
