I got this kitten from this lady that lives across from me. She says to give it a bath once a week to help keep the fleas away. well i gave it a bath ( he didnt like it) and dried it off as much as he would let me and let him run free. I picked him up to put him where his food was and i seen that he had foam comming from his mouth. I have never seen it before.

It's from the flea shampoo.Rinse him off again, and watch him to make sure he's OK.Was the shampoo for cats? If it was for dogs,it's too strong and can make him very sick. You have to be really careful with cats and flea products.Don't use shampoo anymore.Go to your vet and get some Frontline or Advantage for cats.It works and is very safe.

She gave you a sick cat. Give it back to her or if you want to keep it and do not mind paying all of it's veterinary bills, take the cat to the SPCA or a veterinarian close to you who charges a reasonable office fee (under 100 dollars) to get some HELP for your sick cat. Cats normally do not like water baths. However, foaming at the mouth is not normal and indicates an illness, such as rabies. Best wishes.

He probably just ate something bad. Probably one of those fleas. By the way, the only way to kill fleas is with those you get from the vet. There's really no use in giving it baths. It will just stress him out and will never get rid of the fleas.

cats usually foam at the mouth when they've ingested something bitter. Chances are poor kitty contacted some of the soap you used. My vet told me to wash my cat with dawn detergent.

I would get him or her to the vet at once we had a dog that did that, they thought it was rabies at first turned out she had an abscess in her brain she ended up being fine with meds. Like me and others have said get him or her to the vet at once.

Has he had rabies shots? Animals foaming at the mouth often have rabies.

did you use flea soap? how old is the cat?
if you did & it was a small kitten, it could have poisoned it. call the vet, ASAP!

(unless it's acting weird, i doubt it's rabies. but poisoning can be deadly)

duh, this isn't rabies everyone. your cat is just reaccting to the stuff you gave him a bath in...he obviously licked himself. this happened to me just last weekend when i was giving my cat a flea bath. she licked herself after the bath trying to get herself, what she considers to be, clean again. the stuff you washed your cat in sinks in to its skin and fur. what happened to him is basically what happens to an adult when they eat something that doesn't sit well on their stomach...we get sick. it's a way of getting it out of your system. next time you'll need to watch your cat very closely and make sure he doesn't lick himself for a couple hours after he takes a bath until the stuff isn't so strong anymore. don't wory!
