So I'm guessing the only reason you live is so that you can get a reward later? Why not just kill yourself now? Why keep the prize waiting?
Oh right, because no one WANTS to die, because living sure as hell beats dying, because it's possible to enjoy things in life, and because working hard and being productive makes pleasing chemical reactions in our brain.
There doesn't have to be an afterlife to make this life worthwhile - it makes it even more special!

Ahhhh that is same question King Solomon had when he got frustrated and said its meaningless and I quote
Ecc 2:17-18 "Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit. Yea, I hated all my labor which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me. "

I am still working that out. With the way my finances are, I will have to work until the day I drop dead and not have much to show for it. But suicide just doesn't seem like the way out.

You don't have to. It makes no difference in the end anyway. A friend of mine actually says quite often "You don't have to work hard to die happy". Not that I don't work hard myself, but that's my choice.

We work so hard to make our lives pleasant while we live. Death is nothing. Its just the end of a journey.
