I don't believe in god because there is no god

The idea of God has been used by a lot of people as a justification for ending the lives of others. God is invoked for all kinds of other purposes too--most of them designed to control the hearts and minds of innocent people. It really seems more like a psychological tool than anything else, and it's very sad, because it's been applied with expert skill. Millions have perished because of organized religions. I cannot subscribe to that history or the preachings of those who would seek to obscure the truth of religion's generally manipulative application.

As far as being an atheist, I'm not sure the burden of proof is upon me. Life is grand and there is so much that I cherish and wake up for every day. Atheists love and have faith in HUMANITY. According to most religious doctrines, God does the same thing. The Almighty is an atheist, he believes in people. Well, God, come on in, the water's fine.

Probably because I wasn't brought up religious. Not to say that I have never believed in God, I truly tried. For fifteen years I prayed and God was mute the whole time...I got tired of wishing and hoping and released my attachment to the idea of an all powerful being.
Too many things just didn't make sense, and nobody had any answer besides, 'you must have faith'. I found that to be insulting.

Because when we ask 'why' about the bible, religion sais don't ask why, you'll go to jail.
We ask how? They say when you die.
We ask how do you know? We get back at the bible with no actual proof given.

When we measure we find the arth rotating around the sun, religion burned the man to death.
We find fossils that indicate change, and religion says rubbish.

We do not believe in gods that demand to stay hidden.
We do not believe in stories.
We measure, we calculate, we test and prod.
We find nothing, there is nothing. We find mystery, we solve it or try to learn.

We do not accept things blindly.

It is the believers who make the extraordinary claims, not the atheists. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. I don't belive in gods as there is no evidence that they exist and I have looked. If you believe in gods it is up to you to produce the evidence. The Bible or the Koran, by the way, are not evidence of the existence of gods. You show me that gods exist and I will cease to be an atheist. Until then I'm happy as I am.

I can't believe in an all-knowing, all-powerful entity that has such a huge ego that it has to be worshipped all the time; and if you DON'T believe in it, no matter how good of a person you are, you're damned to eternity in hell, because you didn't worship it enough.

I think that's sick.

And I don't believe that a real, all-powerful, "perfect" god would behave that way.

So I don't believe in god.

I have full use of my brain. I am not a blind sheeple. I am no longer brainwashed and ignorant. The hard evidence (or lack there of) is enough for me to come to the conclusion that there never was a god. The more I research human behaviours to become sheeple, and the gullibility of humans and the more I see around me, the firmer my conviction becomes.

To put it bluntly: There's absolutely no valid evidence supporting God's claim. The whole idea seems absolutely pointless and wasteful (of my time). Who wants to spend their entire life living for someone else, following a set of rules, and believing in something that cannot be proven, in any sense of the word?

You're asking the wrong question. It makes more sense to question why people DO believe in something for which there is no proofk, doesn't it? Why don't you believe in the tooth fairy? At least she left you some cash under your pillow--that's more proof than you've got for the existence of a god.

The blatant, complete, overwhelming lack of any credible empirical evidence whatsoever to support the existence of God(s).

Because I found something to believe in that makes much more sense to me, and is not a deity. Deities are archetypes and symbols of something much, much greater, and less well defined.
