She isn't trying to have sex.
She is trying to show her dominance over the other dog.

Like others have said it's a dominance thing.
That said it looks really strange between a cat and a dog.
Ok my puppy... My 6 month old siamese just came into heat for the first time and we got our puppy (7 weeks old) a week ago. The cat lets the dog practically maul her. Both are female by the way.
But puppy backs off when kitty hisses and claws her nose. Other than that it's hysterical watching them together.

I have been told that this act is a form of trying to show dominance over the other dog. If you believe in smacking the dog with a rolled up newspaper - that's a good time. I just use a harsh tone and tell them NO. That act is natural in dogs and doesn't mean they are gay.

It's not about being gay. You're thinking like a human instead of like a dog. It's about dominance. They're no equals in the dog world so someone always has to be dominant. It's usually the older dog.

First off! Dogs cannot be Gay! She's not trying to have sex, it's just a normal reaction for dogs to hump, other dogs. Instead of sitting there watching it. Slap her on her nose with a light tap and tell her No!. If your dogs are not spayed, get them spayed, this will prevent unwanted puppies and prevent the humping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's nothing to worry about, like some of these people say, it's a show of dominance. Dogs don't think like we do, they don't have gay/lesbians in their world. They can feel free to sniff and lick, mount and hump at will without labels.

She is showing dominance over the other girl dog. She isn't actually trying to have sex with her!

Are you serious? Dogs aren't gay or straight. This is a dominance issue. They will work it out. You can train her not to mount though. Just tell her "no" in a very firm voice every time she jumps. It should work if you are consistent.

Dogs mount other dogs as a show of dominance towards them. Females will mount other females to show them that they are the alpha female. There is no gay or straight in the animal world. We humans are the only ones who like to label society like that. Your female is merely trying to assert she is the dominant one in her "pack"

I have 2 small, spayed females who get along famously. However, the littler one is always trying to straddle (you know what I mean) the bigger one. We had the smaller dog first before getting her a companion. When I mentioned her actions to their vet, she said what the little one is doing is perfectly normal -- she's trying to assert her dominance, so don't worry about them. Unless it gets nasty!
