Depends on how good you are. Depends if they need someone at the time. ETC.

You will have to complete a few certifications before flying for a major airline: Private pilot, IFR pilot, Commercial Pilot, Multi engine rating, then you must be type rated in the jet that you want to fly (this training happens usually when you are hired). You will need to log flight hours (depending on the airline expect somewhere around 5, 000). So probably somewhere around 4 years and you would be a competetive candidate.

Your chances of joining the USAF and becoming a commercial pilot are 1 in a million. Its completely pointless and a time consuming process. You have a better chance of going to a aviation university and getting hired, Its a lot faster.

Shortest route, go to college, major in ANYTHING, join the Armed services, become a pilot, serve your 6 years, convert your military pilots certificate for a faa issued one..you WILL have the hours to step to the head of the line !!
Good luck....

years .... you have to log thousands of hours before you can get considered for the commercial pilot job ... if you are serious and want to get ahead of the flying biz you should join the USAF or the US NAVY and let them teach you ---- also,,,, have you finished college___ lots of pilots speak more than one language and this is not a job that can be taken lightly ... you ""wanna be a pilot"" then you ""gotta pay your dues"" ...........

Here is Delta's policy:

US Airways is NOT HIRING PILOTS, so dont even both to look in that direction.

It's good to see someone interested in flying! Good luck with your new career! It should be a very exciting and rewarding one!

depends on how good/smart you are and how much money you have.. if you have all of those things i guess that it would take about 4+ years.
