Why do you NEED to gain weight? Are you underweight? First of all, you should visit a BMI-Body Mass Indicator and put in your age, height, and weight to see if you really need to gain weight. These days overweight has become the norm people compare themselves to. You really want to make sure that you are at a healthy weight--skinny or not. You might be surprised like I was to realize that you are at a healthy weight already. I was always called Olive Oil even though I was at a Healthy BMI weight--I was toward the lower part of healthy--about 108-110lbs. I also rarely ate junk food, was quite active and ate slowly because I tend to fill up quickly, but ate decent portions nonetheless.

Today I am about 23lbs heavier and am at the upper end of my Healthy BMI weight. I've also had 2 children and I'm in my mid 30s and my metabolism has slowed down---I've also gotten to be less active than in my younger years. I spent a few years technically overweight at 149lbs--10 lbs overweight--not by a lot-but enough to have problems with my back and my legs as I am small boned. I had also lost my waist!! Now I am on my way back to "me"--skinny wrists, arms, legs and all and I am fine with it. I also have a waist again--though I want more of one!! Funny thing is that as I gained weight I somehow thought it would go to my skinny parts---it didn't. I looked like a Boohbah! Eating anything for the sake of gaining weight is bound to go to your gut.

I'm still trying to eat and exercise to lose 10lbs. I'm 133 right now--around the midpoint of my BMI range, but still too high for my bone structure. I think that I will lose my gut at around 123-125lbs. A ballet instructor told me that the best way to keep your gut in check is to just suck it in and then let it out and then suck it in--it tightens your muscles--IT WORKS!

If you are indeed underweight, try eating things like cheese and raisins as snacks or in salads. Put a little butter--not margarine-on your veggies. Up your protein intake a little. Eat nutrient rich foods instead of junk food--which are not good on so many levels. Eat small sandwiches and fruits and veggies in between meals. Avoid caffeine as it really robs your body of nutrients.

Most of all I hope that you can realize that "skinny" is okay. Just like heavy people, "skinny" people take a lot of slack over food. You really need to learn to be happy with who you are. It took me a long time to be happy with me. I don't know how old you are but know that your metabolism will slow down as you age. Things like pregnancy will help you add on a few extra pounds that you will somehow never be able to lose. For now enjoy being "skinny," because skinny if OK :) Don't make apologies for being skinny you don't have to!! :) Eat healthy and exercise and just be happy with the body you have:)

I forgot to post a great site to check out your BMI. Here it is. Good luck!

You need shaping exercises, they'll make your figure really perfect. You are supermodel type, it's good. Most supermodels have your type of metabolism. You just need proper exercises for about 3 months, try Claudia Shiffer's program or Sydney Crauford's, they are great.

It ain't gonna work. the reason you're only gaining in the waist area is because that's the only place you can gain it. It's also a sign of poor eating habits.

Best way is to increase your volume of muscles, not fat.

Exercise.
