Ask him for his coin - if he has lost it or claims he never got one - hes BS'ing you. You never lose your coin from Group.

Each Green Beret has two speciality areas. There are five all together. Thus a team of five GB's will have overlapping skills, in case one is eliminated. I cannot remember the skills, but I think one is medical, one is explosives, ...not sure about the rest. Ask him what languages he can speak! Most all GB's were Army Rangers, first. The course to go through to become a GB, is called the 'Q' course.

Try contacting the Special Forces Association, and the POW Network, they specialize in exposing Frauds.

I have 10 more inches of belt required than the "old day's" just because he is fat now means squat.

So:
How old is the guy.
How long was he "in"
Have you seen a discharge on the wall in his house. If so it has his rank on it.
Getting into SF now vs the 60's is real different.
What has he said that makes you suspicious?

Ask him what group he was with, and where he was stationed. Then google it and find out if the group corresponds with the location. Also, ask him when he went to BNCOC (prounounced Bee-Knock), because the phase training they perform counts for BNCOC and they do not actually complete a BNCOC course.

Ask him what his reserve status is. I'll bet you could tell a BS answer from the truth.
