I know that most people would say that Islam scares them the most because of open terrorism, because we´re on the receiving end and they´re pretty obvious about it. Nevertheless, I´ll say christianity, because in the G8 countries, power is mostly in christian hands (scratch China from this scenario) . Oh, there is always a Jew cartel with money, but historically, the Jews have been on the receiving end of open violence. But the christians! It´s one of the bloodiest religion on the planet. I hope that countries with nukes never fall under the rule of a christian fanatic, because he might just call on the armaggedon to force his own vision of judgement day into being.
I don´t fear the lone christian, but a crowd of them makes me very unconfortable.
Didn´t Hitler try to justify his actions by quotes from the old testament? Brrrrrr!
So what scares me the most about religion? It´s insidiousness and indoctrination.

The thing that scares me most about religion is that it can be used to justify almost ANYTHING a person wants to do. The ambiguous use of language contained in religious doctrines allows this to happen. Some religious believers take their beliefs so seriously to that it may reach the point of hysteria. A hysterical human being tends to be irrational and think unreasonably...and can consequently become dangerous...that's what scares me about religion.

The self righteousness that is gained from religion. If they are scared of something they learned they feel obligated to telling the "truth" to others not thinking about how the others would feel about being forced into listening to it. Once people start to hear it more and more they to say enough is enough they aren't going to take it anymore. But that doesn't stop those who truly believe it is their mission to continue onward which created the separation of church and state here in the US. It even gets to the point where the believers separate into their own classes. Spirituals, Religious, and Evangelists...

Everything.................I realize that believers can not understand the word everything or even know the definition from my experience. But it is everything. Religion is based on fantasy. Would you be afraid if people started believing in stories about the game Dungeons and Dragons? Yes of course you would be greatly concerned if they thought that was real, and there is no difference with this fantasy. It is would be deemed not healthy to believe in the D&D world being real, but somehow ok for religion. It is also scary because religious believers have always tried and continue to try to force your fantasy stories and morals down our throats. That is just not good or right. The list can go on and on, with adults believing in childrens stories. Would it be good for adults to still believe in Santa Claus and take his stories as real and try to force others to believe in that? The answer would be no.

Hello,
I'll try something different since I can wager Islam and Christian fundemetalism will be in the limelight.
The Thuggee Cult
It was destroyed by the Brits in the 19th century in India and I hope no spinters remain but I would have to say the Thuggee Cult. There were many victims strangled and sacrificed before its demise and the fact they would lure their victims in by offering them comradeship, food and shelter is particularily frightening.

ALL religions scare me. They're the ones who are going to come looking for the real Christians, real soon.
OK, maybe 'scare' isn't the right verb. How about 'sadden'?

The fact that it seeks to define morality in a way completely devoid of reality. Only religion could have convinced seventeen men to commit suicide by crashing two planes into the world trade center in the belief that they would be rewarded in the afterlife.
