My mother shared this with me recently, and did not say it was in confidence. My father is 72, me, my brother and sister are all adults. He has also started throwing up blood, so I assume it is getting into the serious stage. I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but can't decide if I should say something or just keep it to myself.

Well.

you should get your mother on this too.
call like a family meeting or something like that and both you and your mother let them know.

If i were to be your brother i would want to know.
But that's just me..

Good luck.

if your brother and sister are both adults, then you have to tell them- i'm sure they would want to know.. and if they found out before you did then i'm pretty sure they would have told you. if you don't tell them while he's still alive then i would say that you are a bad person. do not withhold that kind of information from your family members.

Yes, tell them.

Chances are they will soon notice something is wrong anyway.

If they know now, it may change the way they interact with your dad. Give everyone a chance to clean the slate, so to speak.

Tell your mother that you are going to tell them if she does not.

She is lying by omission.

I find it hard to believe that your siblings don't know something is up, even if they haven't guessed that it is COPD (Chronic Obstrcutive Pulmonary Disease).

if you were my sis, i'd want to know if our father was ill. if it was not said in confidence and you weren't told to keep it to yourself then go ahead and let them know. it's always possible that they're already aware of it too.
