"Honey, sometimes grown-ups make mistakes. Sometimes they judge people without truly knowing them. And sometimes they get jealous. Jesus was a good guy, but the Pharisees got mad because people wanted to hear him and not them. Never be like those people, darling, never!"

Tell the child about how the disciple Judas was a tattletale to the Roman government of Jerusalem who saw Him as a threat to their rule over the land. And that He was sentenced to death for claiming that he was the Messiah of the Jews, which they didn't believe.
Jesus always knew that day would come, and made it clear o the disciples at the Last Supper that one of them would betray Him.

I would say people didn't like what he was preaching. People had too much ego to believe that GOD had chosen Him not them. Jesus had made so many followers and anytime that had occurred in history, dominant religions always ended up killing that person in the name of religion. Same thing happened to many other saints like him.

Never had a child ask me that .
A child would have to been told that for the child to believe that .
Why just not tell the child there is a monster under the bed while you are at it .

Well, it is just a story. There is no evidence he ever lived.
But think of this. By modern standards Jesus would be considered a terrorist. He led an anti establishment activist movement in a Judea hostile to Roman power and occupation. Much like an Iraq hostile to American power and occupation.
And America executed Iraq's leader...

Tell the child that it was because they did not believe Jesus was the savior, and they were assisting the king who was being greedy and feared Jesus overthrowing him. The killers were wrong and incorrect, and your child is blessed to learn the truth.

I would say that Jesus had to die four our sins and He still is our friend, however, He rose from the dead to fullfill the Scriptures and to triumph over Satan.

The people who killed him didn't understand that. They didn't know he was their friend. They thought he was a threat to them, but they were very wrong.

Just tell the kid that the people that killed him didn't believe Jesus when Jesus told them that he was God's son. Thus killed him because he lied, and the people who killed Jesus had no idea that he was nice.
