I want to lose weight, but by doing it right through diet and exercise. However, I am not sure which is better as there seems to be literature stating one of the other as to which way you should eat meals.

So the basic question is, which is better for weight loss: Eat only when hungry (still in moderation) or each several small meals every 2-3 hours?

The problem is I have relatively slow metabolism. I had blood work done it isn't anything medical, just really slow metabolism. I can go several days without being hungry, and faint as a result, without ever feeling the least bit hungry. On the other hand, trying to eat every 2 to 3 hours (even just an apple or something else equally small) makes me sick to my stomach. Anyone with ideas?

Thanks!

Eating smaller amounts of food every 3 to 4 hours will speed up your metabolsm. It may take your body a few weeks to get use to eating this often, but eventually your body will adapt to it. When you go long periods of time without eating your body goes into a starvation mode and when you do eat your body will store the excess calories as fat instead of using it as fuel to give you energy. I am a certifed personal trainer so I hope this helps.
