That decision should be approached by the best man and the maid of honor...if they want to do it, they can....but its definitely not an official rule...

Perhaps this is indeed the culture in some countries. But where I live and was married a little over two years ago, this is a non-starter. My best man and my wife's maid of honour certainly did not have sex. Sorry to not be able to give you a positive example but I'm certain that someone here will give you the answer that your looking for.

Many brides and grooms send invitations to people in serious relationships only -- some cut off at engaged or living together even if they know someone has been dating a person for a while.
