It's really funny what some people think to ask about what is sin. Sometimes anyway. It really don't solve anything. Jesus saves because you trust Him, not because you are perfect in behavior.
So I ask you:
When are you gonna come down
When are you going to land
I should have stayed on the farm
I should have listened to my old man
You know you can't hold me forever
I didn't sign up with you
I'm not a present for your friends to open
This boy's too young to be singing the blues
So goodbye yellow brick road
Where the dogs of society howl
You can't plant me in your penthouse
I'm going back to my plough
Back to the howling old owl in the woods
Hunting the horny back toad
Oh I've finally decided my future lies
Beyond the yellow brick road
What do you think you'll do then
I bet that'll shoot down your plane
It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics
To set you on your feet again
Maybe you'll get a replacement
There's plenty like me to be found
Mongrels who ain't got a penny
Sniffing for tidbits like you on the ground

No; Elton John is an excellent vocalist. The Village People, on the other hand, are just stupid....but in a good way :)

Listening to Elton John is like giving your brain a bath in sewer water.
Why would I want to pollute my brain with worldly music of any kind if I want my heart and soul to magnify and honor God?
It wouldn't matter if the artist were a kangaroo if the music he is playing doesn't honor God. Music that doesn't honor God must of necessity honor the devil. There is no gray area here.
It is simple logic!
The only time I would go to see Elton John is if he were ready to repent and turn his life to Christ and called me to ask what would be necessary to accomplish that. That is the only real interest I would have in him prior to his salvation apart from praying for him. Apart from his homosexuality; his entire life is an offense to God until he gets right with God just like you and I and every other human on earth.
The Bible says that light and darkness cannot dwell together and asks the question "What concord has Christ with Belial?"
This speaks of the worldly mind and the spiritual mind having nothing in common. Having lived in both mindsets for long periods of time I know this is true. 31 years as a non-believer and over 33 years as a Christian dedicated to God.
From the sense that I would be allowing something into my mind that is offensive to God I would consider Elton John's music to be something I should stay away from. To disobey the Spirit of God on this issue would indeed be sin.

So he's homosexual. Is he left-handed too? Does he have brown eyes? Those are JUST as relevant,
IOW -- you have GOT to be kidding!!!
What *any* person does in *private* with an of-age consenting partner is NO one else's business. So -- very sensibly! -- I couldn't care less about Elton's sexual orientation, or that of anyone else. NO big deal.
(And yes, I'm a Christian. A sensible one.)

But i dont support his lifestyle but he is talented....i will give him that.
Listen to him...mmmmmm....i think its more edifying to me if i listen to Yolanda Adams or Donnie McClurkin cd in stead.
I hope this answers your question!!!

Well, I am an atheist, but I can tell you that it is not a sin. Not only because there is no god, but because there is nothing wrong with listening to his music. He is a good musician.

my opinion as an atheist:
70's Elton: you're golden
80's Elton: you're pushing your luck
anything beyond, you're on your own
the above is not based on any taboos about homosexuality but rather my musical taste/intolerance for schlock.
