* Genesis 6:6-7 - "The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them."
i am christian, but i found this verse and i'm wondering.
if god does nothing by accident, and was, is, and forever will be the same, then what's up with that verse?

This is actually easy to explain.
Deut. 32: 4 The Rock, perfect is his activity,
For all his ways are justice.
A God of faithfulness, with whom there is no injustice;
Righteous and upright is he.
5 They have acted ruinously on their own part;
They are not his children, the defect is their own.
Jehovah created man perfect, but Adam chose to sin.
Adam chose to listen to his wife and not God.
The defect is Adam's not God's.
Since we inherit sin from Adam, we needed saving.
The real question I think you have is 'Since God is all knowing, didn't he know Adam would sin, thus, becoming responsible for that sin?
Just because God can do something, doesn't mean that is all he does.
God is the creator, is he continuing to create today?
No.
When Abraham went to offer up his son Isaac, Jehovah stopped him with these words.
"Know I do know that you are faithful, because you did not hold back your son."
Because of love and free will, God chooses not to know everything, and allows us the privilege to prove to him our love and obedience.

This verse can be controversial. The Genesis 6 passage is
the demonic angelic beings cohabited with women of the
earth and great men of renown were born. Huge men
like Goliath type. These people were not all of human stock
like Noah and his family. Satan wanted to pervert the human
line so that Messiah could not be born. That is why God had
to destroy the half human, half angelic beings. Also, Noah
preached the gospel to them for 120 years, so they were
without excuse. Satan knew the Messiah would be born
through the woman's seed. (Jesus Christ). It was a Satanic
ploy to pervert the seed of mankind. Jesus was born through
the woman Mary, but the seed planted in her was by the
Holy Spirit, which made Jesus sinless. His Father was God,
no a human father. Hope this helps.

In line with the Violator posts Genesis 6:1-5 talks about the fallen angel mating with women on earth. The Bible keeps it kinds of lite, while other ancient books says they were forced, and that these same fallen angels did experiments on humans and animals alike. They infiltrated the human race, contaminated the DNA, and influenced mankind to reach that state of " every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." The flood was caused at least in part because of this.
Interestingly enough many of the nations that God told Israel to attack were under the influence of fallen angels or their offspring.

Again, the Noah's Ark story is a fable: there was never a flood that covered all the earth.
Genesis was written by men who were trying to make sense out of who God was and who they were in relation with God. One point they wanted to make was that if you were bad, then you ticked God off and he could destroy you.
I hope that most of us have developed a spirituality that's a little more mature than that.
Noah's Ark is an allegory, a fable, a story. That doesn't mean it's a lie. It doesn't mean it's not true. The writers of Genesis wanted to make a point about God's power and used a story to do it. The power is true, even if the details of the story aren't historical data.
God does nothing by accident, true. But God is reality, and reality changes from minute to minute and nothing is the same except for his love for us.
Some theologians say that God moves "from perfection to greater perfection." (I know that's not logical, but I still believe it is true; the idea of what is perfect changes as we interact with God in real-time history.)

God was disappointed by the wrong doings of man. God decided that was time for justice, and punishment for the sins of man were about to come by the means of the flood.
This does not mean he does not love them; that love is what causing Him pain.

...When God says that He does not change, He is speaking about His nature and character. But this does not mean that He cannot change how He works with people throughout history. When we see God changing His mind, we are seeing it from a human perspective. Since God knows all things from all eternity, He as always known the ultimate plan that He would carry out; even the plan to "change His mind."
