I am thinking about buying a laptop from ebay but it doesn't come with an operating system. I have a emachine desktop w/ windows vista which came with a recovery disk. If I bought a emachines laptop or any brand laptop for that matter, could I use my desktop windows vista restore disk for the laptop so both can have windows vista? I would REALLY appreciate a reply. Thanks!

it might not work because its already activated i think. when u use a disk and a computer already has the operating system on it, its activated, but im not sure, if you have to put a serial code in vista, then its activated and you cant use windows vista in the other.

CCleaner has a loose uncomplicated utility to wipe the roughcontinual - it is set to wipe the loose section or the whole rigidity. yet do not permit it wipe the restoration partition - after it wipes the homestead windows rigidity, run the homestead windows restoration mindset (check out your proprietor's instruction manual - on the help information superhighway web site, if youin case you do not have a replica) to start it (perhaps manage + F11 - might desire to be something). it is going to reinstall a generating unit photograph of the prevalent utility and working approach over the wiped tough rigidity. in case you verify on wiping the rigidity thrice - it's going to take military grade application to get greater ideal some thing. if youin case you verify upon the federal government degree wipe (takes particularly plenty longer) it may be the subsequent element to not plausible.

...not if you plan to use both computers ...and even if you plan to discontinue usage of the desktop, then you'll probably be in for a lot of headaches trying to install from a recovery disk.

The problem is that Microsoft will most certainly require validation of the operating system before usage and then disable one of the two computers, rendering it useless.

You will almost certainly need to purchase a new copy of Vista (not an upgrade)... unless you are willing to use Linux.

Yes, but you can only activate it after four months of activating any other computer. Then you won't be able to update the first computer with any security updates, and that will leave you vulnerable.

I recently bought a laptop from Ebay............and mine had OS on it. Why don't you buy one that has got an OS on it? That seems the smart thing to do.
