They have a nice rack builder program that will do the order of precedence for you. They also show which decorations have pips.

A device, cluster, or lamp is an indication of a second award of the same ribbon. If you have the orders for that award then you will know how many devices to put on the ribbon.

If you are trying to make a presentation for a former military person then worry about getting the right ribbons in the right order, that is more important. The color scheme of the various ribbons are unique to each service so what could be a high honor in the US Army could be a minor one in the Marines or the Navy (which both share the same service so the same awards).

In the Air Force you log into the AF Portal go into your Virtual MPF and click on awards and decorations, this well give you all the info. you need.

Not to sure about any of the other branches though, sorry I couldnt be more help on this question.

you didn't say what service, for Marines go to your MOL site and look under awards, don't know about the others but should have similar sites that have personal info.
