3 days for each bedroom. 5 days for a sitting room if wallpapered. 2 attics dependent on size 3 days each. Dining room 3 days dependent on size. Hallway to include stairs and landing etc 5 days dependent on the number of painted doors. If all done as a single job some saving can be made if the ceilings are all done as a single part of the work. No roller cleaning and a straight through the house doing them all could be achieved in 2 days. If wall colours are the same then a further saving can be made due to the speed of doing them as a single entity. If you have a lot of painted doors opening onto the hall, stairs etc this could add some time on as they need undercoat and topcoat, sometimes 2 topcoats. All this is based on one man doing the work alone. I have been a decorator for many years and this is how I would estimate the work. A tip. When the price is given ask for a quotation and not an estimate. You provide the materials as some decorators inflate the amount used and the cost of them. Ask how many days he is quoting for and ask for a reduction if the work is finished early. Beware though as some of the clever ones use smaller brushes and small rollers than they could in order to string out the job. Try to keep an eye on the work as it progresses and if he looks like he is trying it on then mention it. Remember you are the boss as you are paying. Again dependent where you are the rate for the labour should be around £120 per day for a 7 hour day. For continuous work over more than a week there should be a reduction on this amount. Best of luck.

If you are asking can it be done by December there is no problem. Depending on the amount of custom work you are wanting that will determine the amount of time it will take.
A lot of what you are asking is hard because I do not know how extensive the work is that you want done. But assuming that all we need to do is order and place here is a good rule of thumb.
Custom ordered furniture will take 8 - 10 weeks. Of course this also changes if a fabric you are wanting is on back order, If you go to a box store and are willing to buy off the floor you are now talking almost instant decor. The draw back to this is that you are limited to the colors and fabrics that are there.
Blinds and draperies take time to order custom and that truly depends on product. Again if you are willing to go ready made well lets just go shopping. All of the accesories such as lamps and pictures ect. can now be purchased while waiting for all the other stuff to come in.
Now if you are talking how long will it take after it all comes in
Well a competent decorator can accomplish all this in about a week or less. When things are delivered she will help with the placement and hanging of all products. All of the time is in the ordering.
If you want painting and paper hanging this truly depends on how busy everyone is in your area. Another thing that you could remember to ask is if there is a surcharge that you can pay so things come faster. Some places do do this and only you can decide if it is worth the money to save the time.
Hey the main thing is to have fun be clear with your decorator and be patient. A helpful hint to you as you decide what decorator to use. If you start a file with pictures in it for each room that you have seen in magazines that have the look you are trying to create you will save time and money because the decorator now knows the look you want. so get a file lable each room you are wanting to decorate and start thumbing through magazines. You can put things in as to the style of furniture colors that you like ect. You might find in one book a look for the sofa, and in another you might find something that is the color you are looking for. All this work on your part helps any decorator with creating a home that is you and not the taste of the designer. My email is udecor8@yahoo.com if you need more advice

We have been through this recently and found that they will say walls need more coats of paint to prolong the job and get extra money out of you. Pay lump sum, not a day rate or you will get ripped off.

if it is an empty house I would say one average sized room per day using a roller, the hallway may take 2 days. If the attics are large then 2 days each. It should be completed in 2-3 weeks for the lot, just painting. Ensure your light switches and plug sockets are covered before they start or they just paint over them.

Lighter colour paints take more coats than darker colours.

If the decorator is only making furniture, fabric, rugs and accessories choices, it takes only as long as it does to get the items in stock. Furniture pieces can take anywhere from 6 to 8 wks to be made and delivered. If you are tallking about a total make over....walls repainted, floors redone, then add a little more time. If you start now, there shouldn't be an issue about Christmas.

With just one guy its going to be several months especially if he has to do the hard stuff like stripping off wallpaper, or any plastering that might need doing. One decorator i had took four days to do one room, stripping off paper and painting.
And there are always things that you forget to ask them to do.
so this could take longer, you have a sizeable property.

It's hard to tell as it will depend on the size of your rooms and what exactly needs done. If it's just painting and papering, you should be in by Christmas. Your house sounds lovely bye the way! Good luck!

I don't see any reason why this could not be completed In a month to six weeks, unless you are doing major demo, tearing down walls, etc. But for paint, changing flooring, replacing appliances, buying furniture, and other minor things, no reason why it can't be done relatively quickly.
