You speak of good, but don't you also care about the bad?

Absolutely not, the ends does not justify the means.
If people only do good because of religion, then I don't think they're genuinely good people. The motivation for such acts then are no longer "good," they are simply to avoid punishment and buy a place in the afterlife. Therefore we can claim that religion isn't really doing good.
If I find a purse and return it to it's owner because it's right, that's a good act. If I find a purse and return it hoping for a cash reward, are my actions still noble and good?

I'm sorry, but your question does not make sense to me. :-(
*Religion* does good? Religion is only a custom.
IMHO, religion is something people do who don't know any better and haven't really thought about what they believe--or if they have, it hasn't reached their hearts to develop into a real relationship with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. (I've been there, so I know.)
The "religious" people of Jesus' time were the ones who had Him crucified.
I'm not sure if this is what you are asking, but the reason I do things that I do is the perfect peace that I have in my heart. I wouldn't be alive without that.
So, Yes. Absolutely. It would be--and is--worth it to me.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!
It is the "belief" in heaven as an experience after death that causes all the calamity and war - with everyone thinking their way is the only way to save the world from hell.
It is utter nonsense! Now is the only heaven or hell there is to be experienced and you're in one or the other. If you're not experiencing "eternal aliveness" you are in hell.
Every religion offers a way out through purification of the learned ego identity and its defensive, fear-induced thought system. The Christ Self, Buddha consciousness, Prophet of Islam and Judaism, unity with Brahma in Hinduism, etc. etc. is "return to" or "rebirth" or reunification with our true authentic Self. Only then can god/reality synchronize with our true purpose.
