AA Travel chargers only charge AA's and AAA's they are cheaper to make. How well they charge batteries depends on a large list of factors. Faster chargers use higher charging currents which in turn charge your batteries much faster but and this is a big but they heat the batteries and this is harmful and degrading to the chemistry of all battery types especially Nickel Metal hydride's (Ni-Mh) I have a high grade charger for my D's but an 8-hour charger for my AA's and AAA's which is a travel charger. Also how the charger shuts off when the batteries have completed charging plays a huge factor in charging batteries. The best rule of thumb is to avoid chargers making claims that they charge your batteries in an hour or less these will roast your cells.
