Why, when it comes to asking question about religon, christianity is the main one getting bashed so badly? What did christians ever do to anybody? Seriously, you see other questions about Muslim, Catholicism , or even Atheism and people are open to it. But the second "God", "Jesus", or "christianity" comes up every one gets rude and disrespectful? If we can put questions about sexual positions and fetishes and not be criticized............. why not religous questions?

Christian fundamentalists have been on the attack for years now, trying to deny rights to homosexuals, trying to outlaw abortions, trying to keep women from obtaining equal rights, and trying to impose their own morals - many of them non-biblical - on the rest of society. Non-Fundamentalists are finally fighting back by speaking out against their campaigns, their media onslaughts, and their mistaken notions of truth, and the Fundamentalists don't like it very much. They can dish it out, but they can't take it. So when people of good conscience stand up for their rights, Fundamentalists cry foul play.

One serious error that I read in here is that Christianity is a majority. Someone should read their Bible more closely. It says, "Strait is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to eternal life and FEW THERE BE THAT FIND IT." That is not indicative of a majority.

The second error that happens in here more often than any other is that some assume that certain people are Christians when they are not. While it seems futile to keep reminding others there are some groups that do not hold to Christian doctrine and are mistaken for Christians. Among them are Catholics, Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses. Others are Christian Science and Scientology.

So much of what is blamed on Christians is way off base because it is spoken by non-Christians. Further there are always the trolls who come in here with their foolish remarks and try to throw bad light on the real Christians.

To set the record straight a real Christian is:

One who has understood that their sin is an offense to God and is sorry for that sin.
Their sorrow has driven them to repent and ask God to forgive them.
By faith ALL of them have received the gift of eternal life that is only available through the shed blood of Jesus Christ on Calvary as an atonement (payment) for their sins.
The real Christians are so grateful for being set free from spiritual blindness that they want to love, honor, praise, obey and worship God through this earthly life and all through eternity.

Because they can see clearly the lost condition of those who they live around every day, they develop a burden to rescue them from the same spiritual ignorance they experienced and so they evangelize at every given opportunity. There is no question in their heart that all men "MUST" come to the Lord Jesus because there is no other way of salvation.

If you speak to someone in here who isn't like that they are not a Christian in the truest sense of the word or they need to grow up into the fullness and stature of being a servant of Christ so they can be effective in reaching their generation.

Beware of who you call Christian - reject the psuedo Christians who fooled you and respect the beliefs of the others. If you don't have discernment between the two then please don't throw false accusations against those who are innocent of them.

This is directed at the false accusers and not the one who asked the question.

Because Christians are the ones who have shaped the history and path of the world for the last 1500-2000 years and is the largest religion, also one of the most intolerant of opposing beliefs. There is constantly a condemnation of others beliefs because they are not christian or are a differant denomination than them. If someone says your gona be punished for eternity for your beliefs or that your evil because you do not believe what i believe then your religion over time will get a bad reputation. Also if you look at history Christianity has caused many atrocities throughout its existance, as soon as it became the main religion of the Roman Empire it began to attack the people who attacked them, not exactly turning the other cheek like christ said now is it. When the middle ages came and the inquisition went after anyone who wasnt catholic and killed them or destroyed their lives, that wasnt being tolerant of anothers beliefs. When they murdered all the people who lived in Jerusalem at the end of the 1st Crusade and forbide others from worshiping if they werent christian, that wasnt tolerance either. There are even more examples in history of Christian intolerance and disrespect for others, Christianity started as a religion of hope and peace for people but quickly lost its way and many see that, sure many have been helped by Christians but that wont change history and the effects that they have had on people.

There are a few hundred million people in Europe and the Middle East you could ask.

Oh No, I'm sorry - they are all dead, they were tortured and murdered and their entire families were too.

I guess you can't ask them.

You share a faith with a brand of religion that to date has the highest body count. Adolf Hitler was an amateur compared to Christianity and he killed Jews too, and he was backed by the Catholic church.

I will be more forgiving if Christian's can go 1400 years without killing people in gods name.

It is because of the Christian Crusades over the centuries that we have problems with fundamentalist Islam that we do today.

I have had death threats from Christians, I have been assaulted by Christians and I currently face Christians that want to deny me my American citizenship and my right to vote for my lack of faith. (And yes, I was born in America and my family has been here since the 1600's)

Tolerance is a two way street baby. Try practicing what you preach.

OK, for starts, I agree with you on that. There is way too much bashing going on here in answers.
The main reason I see so much of it to Christians in general is because I SEE so much of the bashing being DONE by Christians!
I do understand that Christians are told to "spread the word" and that is a big part of it.
Some other religions just don"t want the word spread over and over about how "wrong" we are to believe anything other that in the Christian way.
I'm a Witch, I believe in God and Godess and I don't try to fill others with my beliefs. I have loads of good Christians friends who are open minded enough to "share" thoughts and ideas, in both directions, and I have been bashed more than once on here by Christians.
I feel "to each their own" and we ALL should be respectful of other's beliefs!!!!!!!

i can only say that either you haven't been here long or you have an agenda of your own to ask that question. As someone who use to be christian and am now Wiccan, I can tell you from actual experience that Christianity has done a lot to hurt others. The list of hurts is too long to go into here. I hope you try to educate yourself on what others are going through because of intolerance on the part of Christianity and Islam for that matter. Good Luck.

Its the arrogance that is inherent in Christianity that people find irritating. If you believe that accepting Jesus is your path to salvation, fine. But when someone says that I am going to Hell for following my beliefs and they have to save me, now you've crossed a line. If you disrespect other peoples beliefs, then dont whine when you get treated with disrespect.

And then of course there is that history of people spreading Christianity by enslaving and murdering native cultures from all over the world that is a bit bothersome.

Guess you haven't been around here too long, there is plenty of bashing going on from both sides.
Here's a few gems

Have you noticed that A*T*H*I*E*S*T*z enjoy Picking Their Nose in Public?

This is just a small sampling, but the bashing goes on in BOTH directions, and I don't approve of it coming from ANYONE.

Do you think calling atheists nose pickers and evolutionist "dimwits" is OK.

There were some even worse ones, but they got deleted.

Oh, here's another lovely little gem in answer to the question. "If you don't believe in God, then who do you think gave you life"

From freakinanimal:
Yes that is so true because God is everything and he is the one that gave us all life. That is how all of us are living today is because of God and what he has done for us. We should bow down to him when we feel him in our presence. So who ever doesn't believe in God should go to Hell because he is the one that is keeping you living. So for all the people that don't believe in him you should be ashamed of yourself because God forgives you for all your sins at some point in time. SO GO TO HELL YOU NON-BELIEVERS!

Well isn't that just lovely ????? Now what was that you were saying dear about Christians getting bashed so badly ?

its ok. use spellcheck, thats what its there for.

there is a lot of mud slinging going both ways. hate speech for hate speech. there's a lot of anger that is fueled by people running their mouths off just because they can -- saying things in this kind of forum that they would not likely say to a large group of people in person. not because they can be more honest here -- but because cowards flock to places where they can wave their little pricks around and feel like they had their moment.

its pathetic. but you know. but here comes the special part of the answer you need to hear: christians got it very very easy. i have answered this in depth in similar questions, please refer to those.

suffice to say -- don't pretend you are being persecuted. you really aren't. people are just sick and tired of being surrounded by christian loudmouths who violate all the most important commandments of jesus -- do not judge, love one another, love your enemies and do not harm them.

talking about your own faith is one thing - saying that you as an individual think or believe this or that, but when you post a so called christian oriented question don't provoke or judge or mock unless you want to fuel that fire. and believe me -

the fire needs to be put out.

Study History. Then ask that question.

Ever hear of the Crusades? The Inquisition? The Thirty Years' War? Witch Hunts?

Did you know that the early Christians kiled not only pagans, but other Christians who had "unorthodox" interpretations? That they almost eradicated Classical Civilization and created a Drak Age of a thousand years?

So when I hear them DEMAND more influence in society, I worry. So should you.

Christians are fond of bringing up the Roman persecution of Christians.

What they completely fail to mention is the Christian persecution of "heretics" and pagans after Christianity gained power in Rome.

Christians are no more tolerant than anyone else. In fact, they are some of the very worst in that regard.

Open your eyes.
