As long as you need.

People in danger of death can receive thier sacraments right away.

Some people are not ready for years. But most take about a year.

If you are interested in joining or just learning more about the Catholic Church, contact your local parish and ask about information about their RCIA Inquiry group.

You can go and ask any questions you want.

This is the first step in RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) but you can stop at any time.

There is no obligation to become a Catholic.

With love and prayers in Christ.

>>How long would it take to convert to Catholicism?<<

As long as it takes. What I mean by that is that every person is different, and is in a different place in their faith journey. It took me about 26 months from the time I began studying Catholicism seriously, and about 10 months from my first meeting with a priest. If you haven't been validly baptized, you would most likely be received at Easter Vigil. If you have been validly baptized, you can been received as soon as you can convince a priest you are ready. (Not all priests are aware that baptized people can be received outside of the Easter season, so you may have to push for your rights. See the link.)

You are generally expected to take classes to make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. These classes usually run Fall-Spring. You are under no obligation to enter the Church when the classes end.

Just visit your nearby Catholic Church and tell them you want to convert. I think you'll take RCIA, which are adult classes.I'm not sure how long they last.
