Hi.Which series 901 do you own ? [1,2,3,4,5 or 6 ]

What is your budget for a new Amp.?

Have you got the Bose Equaliser that comes with the speakers ?

I need to know because of special requirements of the speakers.

ADDIITIONAL INFORMATION
Thanks for the extra information.
Ok ,so you have the model 6 and the equaliser. The specifications i looked up said power handling
min 10 watts max 450 watts Peak which is about 220 watts RMS.The impedance is 8 ohms nominal. Right ,we need an Amplifier able to produce up to 220 watts RMS per channel or higher with an impedance of 8 ohms which all amps have so there is no problem with impedance matching.

Do you know how much your budget is . There are two ways of getting a good amp for your speakers first an Intergrated two channel amp containing a pre-amp and a power amp or a separate two channel pre-amp and a separate two channel power-amp.

If you buy an amplifier that is lower in output than the bose, you will have to be carefull not to turn the volume up too high if you want louder sound because the amp might run out of steam and damage the speakers . So if the amp you get is rated higher than the speakers you will have plenty of power in reserve to handel musical peaks as long as you dont turn the volume all the way up which then will over load the speakers. But i doubt this would happen, you would probably go deaf before any damage has occured !

RE:
what is the best amplifier for bose 901 speakers?

Try to find out what the impedence rating is on your 901's. The lower the impedence, the more watts you will need to drive them. A speaker with an impedence rating of let's say 87 is going to need a lot more juice to push it than one rated at 92 or higher. Also the size of the room and room acoustics can have a big factor in the amp that you choose. Music tastes, how loud you like to listen to what's coming out of your speaker. When in doubt, get the highest wattage amp/receiver you can afford. ( Sony ES line, Pioneer,Onkyo, and Denon are reputable lines to look at ). Happy listening!

Only you can decide what's the best amplifier for you.

Auditioning several amps will allow your ears to tell you which sounds the best. If budget is also important, you'll need to decide what price you're willing to pay for a good amplifier. If how it looks is important, you'll need to consider that too.

Basically, you just need to decide on the things that are important to you in an amplifier. Then you can weigh the options based on your specific criteria.

Just about any decent amp will be Ok. But I recomend you listen to many diferent set up with both speakers and amps. I think you will agree there is better sound for the money than bose.
