Yet they will give a person second chances or don't think twice about abandoning their children. What is that? Please explain.

You can thank the stupidity of the bleeding heart left for that. Don't get me wrong Mike Vick needs to be locked up, he is one sick individual. However the left has always seemed to place more value on animals then humans.

It may seem strange on the surface, but you do have to look a bit more closely than that.
First, most people who want to imprison someone like Michael Vick would also want to do the same for abandonment of children. It's not that Americans hold two opposing views in the same "mind", so to speak. It's that Americans have a variety of different views.
As for "second chances", well, this country was founded on the notion of "second chances" -- whether it be for religious reasons, business reasons, etc. So, for us, allowing for second chances is imprinted deep in our political, economic and moral DNA.

I don't know exactly what you are referring to with people getting second chances for abandoning their children, as the kids go straight to foster care when there is a complaint.
As far as the dog fighting, its a bit more serious than people laughing about soem dogs who hate each other. These dogs are being bred to fight to the death, beaten on a regular basis, starved, raped... And you try to tell me that people who would do that to a dog wouldn't do that to another person eventually.

I think what this person is trying to say if you neglet your dog and there is proof you would get sent to jail. But if you abandon your child you get a second chance.

I don't know the story - those over *here* who keep dangerous dogs that then savage children *should* go to prison though and those breeds of dog should be put down - all of them.

Our government leaders who make these laws hate people and love dogs.They value dogs above babies, it is sick.I do not vote for people like that.
