All they know is a few bible verses? They know nothing of Tradition, theology, or the living today of the Church.

Protestants say the Bible, Jesus is savior, etc.
But what do they really know about who and what Jesus is? How many natures in Christ? How many persons in Christ? What is Christ's Mission within the Trinity?
What are the relations of the persons in the Trinity? How are they disctinct?
What are the Divine Missions ?

Protestants are so busy walking around with the bible beating people over the head with it, yet they know little about it. They are too busy who is going to hell and who is saved.
What is the commitment in a love relationship with Jesus? Do you really know him?

Are you so absurd as to think that the Church began in the reformation? 1600 years after Christ? Even the Mormons do better than that.
Protestants- you really need to look at the implications of the things the reformers taught. They were and remain heretics.

The Early Church didn't have the bible put together they way we do today. There were also no printing presses.
It was the Catholic Church that put the bible together. Ignorance of Church history is no excuse.
CAthedrals are full of bible stuff. How to read a Chruch.

No.
Before protestants, people had no understanding of the bible, as it was kept out of the hands of common folk.
Once everyone had the word of God, they realized how much ritual, and unscriptural teaching was being presented to people. And a denomination based on bible teachings was started.

Eartha Q -- Here is your quote. "Before protestants, people had no understanding of the bible."

If protestants have such a wonderful understanding of the Bible, then why are there thousands of different "understandings" ??

Not far from having 40,000 protestant denominations because of all the private interpretations of the Bible...and you call that "understanding" ??

The Bible was never meant for private interpretation. It cannot be properly interpreted apart from the Church that gave it to us in the first place. It has to be considered with tradition, writing style, time period, and many other factors.

So I think we Catholics understand this Catholic book just fine without the thousands of opinions of confused protestants. Thanks for thinking of us though.

Not all of us. The Christian church is a reformation church, which emphasizes history, and restoring the traditions of weekly communion, believers baptism, and learning the Bible in context. Many protestants take verses out of context in order to prove their points, without really looking at the passage they came from. I would have to say though that many folks are lacking in much in depth Bible teaching though. Mature Christians generally have a deeper understanding of their faith. Apparently all you have come up against are babes in the faith.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Reading the Church Fathers, etc. can be helpful in understanding the gospel, but it is the gospel that brings salvation, not any ancient or contemporary theologian.

I don't care for broad generalizing hurtful remarks.

I know many Protestants that know tons about Christianity, and some Catholics that know little.

Casting stones at each other is not in the Christian example of Peace, Love and Forgiveness that Jesus gave us.

Peace be with you.

Most Protestant's do know more of the living church, Jesus Christ is the church, all we have is pray to the Father, Thur Jesus for forgiveness. Not Thur a priest, the virgin Mary, and Jesus Christ to get to the Father. I do not have to go Thur any man who or whom may not be any better than me. Protestant clergy are meant for guidance and support.

There is no one type of Protestant and there are many ,many types of Protestant theologies. Even Sola Scriptura theologies have tradition and church authorities that they appeal to and which underlie their interpretations of Bible verses..

Lol @ "physically put into bread". That's great. Another evangelical taking things literally. It's cute. Symbolism, my dear.... the Catholics have perfected symbolism and interpretation.... that's why they believe in gravity and other "weird" sciencey-things that aren't explained word for word in the bible.

Aren't Catholics ignorant about Christianity? John 3:16. Whosever believes in HIM (Jesus) shall have eternal life. Not Jesus and the priest. Not Jesus and the Pope. Not Jesus and the saints. We don't need priests to interceed before God on our behalf. That's what Jesus is for. I put my faith in God, not man. Men (even the Pope) are fallible. God is not.
