I used vista on another pc recently which came from dell and that was a much bigger computer size, nevertheless i liked vista and it runned fine.

However, my computer is alot smaller. I have a vista disc for installation, just don't know wether to put it on. I think the theme and the extras little and big on it great.

Would it be okay on my comp or shall i stick to xp?

In my opinion I would stick with XP because Vista is a big memory hoag. I do not think 512 MB of Ram is enough.

stick with Xp i would say. 512 ram is really not big enough to cope with vista and a 40 gb hard drive isnt really the best considering vista will take at least 12gb of that away. i dont know what a 1gig processor is... do you mean a ghz? is so that would be just borderline. All in all i would say stick to XP because if you installed vista you PC would be very slow at times.

Hope this helps

I would suggest not to use Vista on any PC. I've seen it, used it. It looks good..... but thats about it. Its slower than XP, even at copying stuff and its hard to find some of the things. And even on a good spec PC (with 1G ram, 1.7GHZ) the animated video wallpapers are problematic. They cause the system to hang. If you used vista properly, you'd know how good an OS XP is.

If you want the good looks of vista keep windows XP. Try 'Vista Inspirat 2' from the folowing link. Its free. Should work great on your config, works great on mine. There are lots of other customization options on that site, check em out.

Your processor should be ok, but you are very short on ram. Vista requires at least 1 gig, 2 gigs is much better. And you will need a video card with at least 128 megs of ram onboard. I think that you should save the Vista install for a better machine.

Vista requires about 2 gigs of ram to run smoothly.
and about 4 gigs of hard drive just to install.
it will work...but it will give you a headache in a few days time.

those specs don't even meet the minimum requirements let alone the reccommended specs. putting vista on that machine would be like putting xp on a pentium 1 machine

512mb is not enough for memory
40gb is nothing
1gb processor is nothing

vista basic would just about run on that maybe, u might as well stick with xp. either that or buy a new pc.
