Do not twist a new piercing for the first week or so, just clean it two or three times a day. Twisting too soon can be very painful since the bar is between two points that are tender and can make the healing process take longer. Past then once the outside skin is healed then it wouldn't hurt to spin in a little bit while cleaning but don't just play with it. Other than cleaning do not touch a new piercing that much. Bacteria can move from your hands to the fresh wound, which a piercing is and that can cause an infection. Wash your hands often, well and ALWAYS before you clean your industrial. My industrial took about two months to heal and about 6 months total before the holes stopped getting super tight really fast. Judge how it's doing by your body since everyone is different. If lumps, puss or smells that aren't just the crusties happen go see your piercer. The healing process can take a very long time if you don't heal well but if you clean and care for piercings properly there shouldn't be any problems.

I got my nostril pierced three weeks ago and was told to use sea salt wash a few times a day, and NOT to twist it. He said that could actually cause damage and possibly a keloid, so I would refrain from touching and moving it too much.

Twist it while cleaning with the salt water or h2ocean, but leave it alone any other time, playing with it causes major swelling, and pain.

I would twist it when it is wet with salt water... It wil help the pus and other goo loosen up and exit the piercing.

yeah you have to twist it just don't force it if there are "crusties" rinse with luke warm water and salt and allow them to dissolve and twist also make sure that both holes have enough space and that neither is to close to a ball
