In regard to the self: following the rules of the Bible, that holy text in which they believe.
In regard to others: loving them, being available for discussions concerning Christianity, considering others as human beings too, not pointing fingers because the Christian is a sinner himself and the non-Christians do not follow Christian rules.
It is ineffective and senseless for Christians to whine about non-Christians. How has this ever helped someone? If you encourage negativity, you'll only receive it. Calling it "love" does not magically change the reality of the situation. If you put yourself in the Other's shoes, you are more able to understand and be compassionate, thus bettering yourself and helping others at the same time.
The Christian should be about selflessness, not selfishness, yet recognize that he can only change himself.
While this is my view of the ideal Christian and there is Biblical support for it, there is also Biblical rejection of it. I'm not really sure what to feel in that sense...

Ideal christian behavior in my mind isn't quite the same as it is to the christian mind...
The christian who lives an ideal christian life for me means that they follow the example of their atheist neighbor... that makes for a good beginning... and if they'll learn to refrain from inviting everyone to attend their church and convert to christianity, they'd be even closer to my idea of living as an ideal christian ought to.

Tolerance. Patience. Love. Understanding. Humility. Charity. Hope. Faith.
Of course, hardly any of us ever attain the "ideal," as is obvious from all the judging and bigotry you see on here all the time. Christians are still human, I guess.
