This is a pretty smooth beer with a nice caramel color.
I know it's not going to win any awards in Europe, but what are your thoughts on it as Americans go?

Yuengling Traditional Lager is my favorite American lager by far. Not too malty, and not too hoppy, with just enough carbonation to make it interesting without dominating. It's smooth, and had it been the first beer I ever had, I wouldn't have waited two and a half years between my first and second beer.

And it doesn't hurt that it is from America's oldest continuous brewery. They must be doing something right.

I also had while staying in western PA. When I relocating back to the WC I went to the brewery in Pottsown I believe (Pottsville?). Had a great meal at a old local diner before the tour. The brewery was nice (although disappointly modern) the beer tasting in the basement was great. Both the beer and prohibition style basement tasting room made for a wonderful experience. It has been too long to recall the beers flavor profile but I do think it a nice brew.

The beer is very nice.

Good luck

I myself don't mind YL. It's a decent beer, especially compared to most of your typical American lagers.

However, I recently tried YL Light and was COMPLETELY disappointed in it.

As I was pouring the brew I was impressed with the rich color it had for a light beer. The aroma was pleasant as well. Even has I took my first sip and as it hit my lips I was still impressed.

BUT THEN IT HAPPENED.....The the metallic almost sulfur like after taste that it left in my mouth was hideous. I tasted like the beer had taken on the taste of the copper boilers that it is made in. YL will have to go back to the drawing board on this offensive tasting beer.

Sorry... no Yuengling Lager around here - West Coast.
That's a local brewery for you.

Hands down my favorite non-premium beer. An excellent taste with a smooth finish...
