Second ... read up on Gnosticism, it explains this, but be warned this is not literal, neither is what is presented in the Torah, they are esoteric allegories.

Gnosticism sees the OT god the God of the Torah as a false God, literally they call him Sameal, which means false God, they call him the ruler of the material world, and ignorance appearance and is the force which traps man into a mechanical stupor, a living death, a force which brings suffering upon man, a corrective force in many regards. They say the God of Jesus was not the same and that Yeshua conformed it in John when he said the Father of the Pharisaic mindset is the Devil. They saw the Devil and the OT/Jehovah-God as one and the same basically.

However a Christian would interpret the above as him being Jealous that you are not serving him or something. Jealous of idols, which is funny why he would even care. But this is not as it seems. In the OT there is an encounter with people who worship Baal I believe his name is, was seen as a false God.

He's not jealous of other 'gods' (considering none exist) but rather look at it this way. We, as humans, get preoccupied and put things before God a LOT of the time. But that's not the way it should be. He should be first in our life, all the time, and he can get jealous of anything that we idolize or put ahead of Him in our lives.

He's jealous of all those false gods other people worship. Why, I'm not sure I understand. I consider jealousy a petty emotion, myself.

1 Cor. 13:4 says that love is not jealous, so if God is jealous, does that mean God is not love?

I've asked my christian friends this and none of them could give an answer to it. I've even pointed out the 1st commandment says "thou shalt have no other gods before me." Still,no comment.
