Never, never and never.

Indeed I don't have figures (numbers) to specifically give you accurate data, but so many Muslims all over the world don't speak Arabic or at least Arabic is not their mother tongue.

And if you ask this question for Quran, you can read the translation of its meanings in so many languages. And then you can learn how to read it which will make it easy for you to learn Arabic, if you have the intention, then be sure that Allah will help you a lot and won't give you up.

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim - In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Hello. It is not required to learn Arabic in order to convert to Islam. Most people who convert to Islam do not understand more than a few words of Arabic at the time of their conversion, but most are keen to learn enough Arabic to pray in Arabic and to understand simple phrases.

The fundamental beliefs of Islam translate well so there is no particular need to understand Arabic in order to understand the religion. There are many excellent books on Islam, as well as translations of the Qur'an, to give a person an understanding of the teachings of Islam. There are books with Arabic and English or other languages side by side along with transliterations so a person can learn to pronounce the Arabic for the purpose of prayers.

People from many countries covert to Islam every day. The majority of Muslims are not Arab and Arabic is not their mother tongue. Only about 20% of Muslims are Arab and though it is beneficial and a blessing to learn Arabic, you can live your life as a practicing Muslim without knowing much beyond the basics. I am an American Muslim woman who accepted Islam as an adult, and I did not know Arabic when I reverted. Over time I have learned enough to get by, and I am learning more as well, due to my love of Islam and my desire to read and understand the Qur'an and lessons of Islam.

I pray that Allah guides you to that which is best in this world and the next. Ameen.

Fi Aman Allah,

Nancy Umm Abdel Hamid

Only you can answer this question.
You can learn to repeat arabic, parrot fashion, without any understanding of the meaning or translation.
Or, if you want to put in more effort, you can learn to repeat it parrot fashion & also learn the translation in English.
Or, if you want to give it your heart & soul, you can learn to read & write in authentic arabic script, so that you can read the Qu'ran in arabic, and also learn all the prayers etc with their English translations.
I'll leave you to make up your mind.
Good wishes & peace to you.

Read the New Testament of the Bible first, and you will realise that you don't need Islam, because Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and no one can come to the Father except through Him.
Salvation is absolutely complete in Jesus, you don't need any other religion, they are all just a diversion from Jesus.
You especially do not need one that contradicts much of the teaching of Jesus and denies His Crucifixion, which was prophesied in the old Testament, and is an historic fact supported, not just by eyewitnesses in the Bible, but also by several non-Christian sources written long before Islam was even thought of.

You would need to learn it for prayer. It is recommended that you learn to read the Quran in its' original language. It's kinda hard to do, especially as an adult but very possible.

You don't need it to convert, but it helps to better understand the Quran. We have translations of the Quran, but nothing beats the original language. There's so much lost in translation that it really detracts from the meaning of the verses.

But fluency in Arabic is not a prerequisite for becoming a Muslim.

Wow, there are some people here that really need help....
