The same way you'd change an adult's name (aside from marriage, lol). Except you have to have BOTH parents agree to change it, so if the other parent isn't around then you might not be able to do it. (You'd have to get a court order). There's paperwork you fill out, and appear before a judge, and pay a fee. You can go to your local courthouse and get the paperwork and details from there.

you can go to www.deedpoll.com and apply there to change their name, you'll have to find out first if you are the only one with parental responsibility if you aren't you'd have to ask permission from the other parent to change the last name. It explains all this on the website, if your child is old enough to understand i would discuss it with them first as it can have a big impact, i just changed my 9 year old's last name thankfully he was happy with it hope it all goes well

Couple of ways: legal change of name or adoption. You need to have the appropriate papers drawn and file for a court date. We changed the name of our son, but we did it through adoption. We considered legal change of name, but because he was a minor, his legal father had to consent, and he wouldn't.
