I recently started dating a boy from work about a month ago. He's Mexican and I'm Caucasian. He speaks some English & I speak some Spanish so we make it work when we're together. I go to school 2 hours away and have to go back in a week. We really care for each other and he recently told me he wanted to try to make it work while I'm at school. I do too but we have trouble understanding each other on the phone. We text message each other but I'm afraid that won't be enough to stay close while I'm away. I'll only be able to return about once a month and he'll only be able to visit me about once a month. Any tips on how to remain close despite the distance & cross our language barrier?

You could call him. :) Im sure he would like that. I would keep in touch via email, myspace, whatever you two have. Even snail mail is a good idea! You two could send pics to each other, and getting letters in the mail is always fun. If its really meant to be, it will work out.

Learn Spanish, if you really like the guy and what the heck knowing another language won't be a waste you could use it later on when you get out of school. If you care about each other you will MAKE it work. I had a long distance relationship and we kept it going by phone and letters (no Internet then)

if you really care and he does you can but generally those men sometimes care to step away and fool around just letting you know. they sometimes just can't be true there are some men that can. it all depends on his morals and stuff do you know him well enough for that? is he in mexico? i am not sure what to say about this now.

You should work on learning more Spanish. He should work on learning more English. That will make your communication work better.
