If you were born in the middle east then you would be strapping on bombs like the radicals over there.

Your faith depends entirely on where and how you have been raised. If you were brought up in a remote tribe in Papua New guinea that believes in witch doctors, untouched by other societies... you would believe in witch doctors. You wouldn't have even heard of "god" or "jesus" or "buddha" or any other spiritual belief. Faith is entirely culture-dependent.

I was born into an Italian Catholic family. There was no question, not even for one second, as to what religion I'd be raised in. So yes, it was rather culturally dependent, in my case. However, if I had been born into a Muslim family in the Middle East, that doesn't necessarily mean I'd be a terrorist. It means that I'd simply have been raised a Muslim. Not all Muslims are terrorists, of course. And regardless of what religion we're raised in, we have a choice as to whether to stay in that particular religion or not.

Geography is the single best predictor of religion there is. However, just because one is a Middle-eastern Muslim does not turn one into a suicide bomber. The population would evaporate if it did.
