first off if you wanted to discharge before basic training, why would you join in the first place, my brother is in iraq right now, he is in the national quard, he fights for our freedom. do you you believe that by being discharged it will simply spare you of a duty you do not wish to put any effort into? basic training is the primary training to see if you can even join the national guard, why would you want to join and then quit before you are even accepted? basic training is childs play compared to the training that you face once you reach boot camp, and are stationed, anyways. If you want to resign then you should not even have joined in the first place, the national guard is somthing of large importance, you should not become part of somthing that you will only quit rather than see it through.

if you've sworn in then it may be hard the weed thing won't work unless you want a dishonorable discharge. Your recruiter will wait until its out of your system. Just be honest and let them know you're not doing it. They'll give you a hard time at first. If you already don't want to join I know I don't want you to have my back. You may have a valid reason not to join but if your mind isn't in the fight stay home.

You could try telling them that you're a wuss who doesn't have the guts to follow through with the commitment you made to your country. Then show them the yellow stain that I know is already in your shorts.
All of this would be true based on your asking this question.

Nothing you do, once you have signed, will look good on your record. Now, with the war in Iraq going on, If you have signed the form, and taken the oath, You may very well wind up there.
It's called the back door draft. Like it or not, you are probably committed one way or the other.

If you have not raised your right hand and taken the oath of enlistment, you can walk away. If you have, try French kissing the 1st Sgt., provided it's a man.

If you have taken no financial aid or payment from them, there is probably a clause that lets you out. Better read the fine print.

well i take it you do not want to serve your country so you must have been high when you signed up. so i suggest you do the same get high and stay that way. as an added bonus if you do not want to go == as a retired military person i would not want to share a fox hole with you anyway so i hope you take your less than honorable discharge and go hang out some where far away from me.
