What is the best, most polite way to have them not come back?
I respect them and have no problem letting them know "thanks, but no thanks" - why do they keep coming back after I've explained clearly I am not interested?
I don't give money, I don't invite them in, I'm not a heathen(or can they tell?) lol - really - though, how can I make it respectfully clear I really don't want them to come back?

A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to "recruit" a householder, or get him to "convert". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!

That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.

(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

Ask to be placed on the "do not call list"

Understand, one of the nicest and most faithful brothers I know, once told the brother I studied with,

'To get off his porch, and never come back!'

Circumstances change, this brother did, you might also.

Enjoy the visit, we aren't going to twist your arm.

We aren't going threaten you.

You will be encouraged, if you listen.
You will learn if you listen.

GUADELOUPE: The brothers in Guadeloupe have indeed felt as if new ones were coming into the organization like a large flock of doves in flight. (Isa. 60:8)

One Sunday a lady approached the Catholic priest after Mass and told him that her son had asked: “Why, if Jesus Christ died for us, do we still see men who continue to sin and who continue to die?” She asked for help.

The priest offered no explanation but instead said: “I suggest that you go out of the church, cross the street, and stay there a little while. Soon you will see Jehovah’s Witnesses coming along.

Then approach them and stop one, but not an adult, no, but go to the youngest child among them and ask him to answer your question. To be sure, he will gladly tell you exactly what to answer to your son.”

You can have the same experience.

First thank you for striving to be respectfull and honest with us. There probably was some sort of misunderstaning or clerical error. As I am sure you know, we don't want to waste yours or our time. If you want you can ask that you be put on a list of houses for us to not come back to. We will strive to follow your wishes, though once or twice a year someone will come by as people often move, and/or at times have changes of heart/opinion. Hope this helps.

Ask them to put you on a no call list. Otherwise they will not know if the occupancy of the house is still living there or have moved out and another family has moved in.

Hello there....

You are very kind, that is a wonderful quaility.. One that we do appriciate.... Most everyone here that has said "Oh do this" Or "We do this" Let me tell you... They have NOT done that... LOL They just say that here........ :))) Continue being kind.. Being polite. :))) Tell us to put on on the "Do not call back List" and in about 6 months - 1 year, you will get another call.. The reason for this is because we feel that peoples hearts can change or circumstances in their life can change, or people move. We are trying to help people. :))) And if by any chance you do get a knock before then, pls understand we are NOT perfect, we try our best to abide by the do not call list, but we are worldwide. :))) Thank you again for being polite.. :)))

Take care!

EDIT~~~
Some here say to ask us different questions... LOL We welcome questions.. They do not scare us off... LOL This shows you that they have never done this.... They just think about what they would like to do, or what they think might work. :)))) We welcome questions... :)))) We are not at your door to argue, but help people. :)

If it is the same ones coming back then they are not acting as they should so you have no need to be concerned for being"polite"... just tell them in no uncertain terms that you are not interested and that you do not want them to ever come back... however... All JWs must go out and knock on doors... so if you tell one there will still be hundreds more going out to do their obligated work... I do not think they share notes on who is and who is not interested.

The Apostles & Jesus did many Tours of the Surrounding Cities in their Time. In the same tradition JW's do likewise. As mentioned " Do not Call" requests are Respected.Fittingly, the apostle Paul said “How, in turn, will they preach unless they have been sent forth? Just as it is written: ‘How comely are the feet of those who declare good news of good things!’” (Romans 10:15)

We come back in case you have changed your mind, or have moved and maybe someone else is living there. If you really don't want us to come back...ever, just say so. Saying 'thanks but no thanks' is like saying 'not today' or 'I don't think so'. Everybody says that. Just be a little more clear and we will respect your wishes. We have a list of 'do not calls'. If you wish ask to be put on that.

PS thanks for being respectful and polite about it. We really appreciate that! :)

I am sorry you feel that way. but if you really are not interested. tell them to put your name on the do not call list. or call the local kingdom hall and speak to an elder and tell them to please put your name on the list. as you see many on here are very rude to Jehovah Witnesses. first place we are not soliciting. that is selling. we do not sell. we are doing what Jesus Christ commanded us at Matthew 28 verse 19 and 20. many who turned there back on Jehovah will slander us. please don't listen to them. even if they give me a thumbs down. I know that they are slandering us
