Religion claims yet another victim.
Who is going to pay for the years of therapy that this child will need now? The church? I hope so...it's not like they don't have the cash.
Will the official Christian response be, "Well, he wasn't a real Christian!"?

From my past dealings with Christians, it seems that most have a similar opinion to me that it is not the duty of a human being to judge another. So why carry out vengeance attacks like this?
I am sure if this man was a true Christian, he would not be so quick to judge (tip of the hat to some of the more decent Christians in R&S).
I am of course referring to the grandfather's actions, not those of the police.
How is it possible that ANY person, regardless of faith and practices, can be considered less than human, and in need of 'exorcism'?
I only hope the young mother is alright, as she is the only person who was truly respectful and non-violent. Once again, I'm not including the police.
Of course the police subdued the man, but only because it was needed, to protect life and not destroy it. Therefore, how can I disagree with that?

This was complete insanity. It is unfortunate that religion was mentioned at all in the article because there is a "pure and undefiled religion" that helps widows and orphans. This act was not that but was completely defiled and pure evil.
This was not an exorcism just evil people claiming to be doing an exorcism or perhaps insane people thinking that they were doing an exorcism. When Jesus did an exorcism, no one was left bleeding or dead but healthy, whole, and free. ( Mark 5:15) "When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid."
Jesus is the truth and His life and His works should be the standard for anything done in the name of religion.

I read it in the Seattle Times.
The little girl probably would have been killed if the police didn't intervene. So praise God that the police saved the childs life.
Sad that the old man probably went to hell though. I am suspicious of incest.
And yes, the Christians who read about this need to pray for this little girls protection, mentally, physically & emotionally. As this had to be too tramatizing for a child to emotionally handle. Jesus loves this child sooo much. That this precious child be 100% healed by the power of the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. That God lead the right people into her life. That the devils be bound & thrown into the deep sea to wait until judgment day. Yes, there were demons attacking this child through the mother & grandpa.

Very sad, but not unheard of. Children have been crushed to death by people sitting on their chests to try to drive the demons out. I'm totally guessing of course, but since the mother was sixteen when she had the child, I have to wonder if the grandfather was the child's father. The child will be so traumatized I doubt she'll ever be normal. Some of the people will probably claim that the grandfather died because he cast the demon out of the child and it entered him instead.
Ignorance kills people every day.

Yes I saw that this morning, it was terrible! Why are people blaming Christianity for this? I didn't see or hear anything where any of the girl's relatives claimed they were Christian, or even mentioned God. More likely, the grandfather was mentally unstable, pure evil, or a combination of both. If anyone ever heard or saw of someone harming a child (or any person, for that matter) in the name of "religion", the police should be called in right away. Because obviously that is not what Christ taught.

It's been on the news all day today and it was mentioned at least in one other post earlier. And for the person who said it had nothing to do with religion, did you happen to notice to depictions of Jesus and Mary that were in the news report?

LOL. Read that this morning. Nothing like kicking in a door and finding some crazy old man choking the crap out of a three year old girl who is "possessed."
If you ask me, it was the man that was possessed, not the kid!

Idiots. Good that the old man died, now they need to make sure the daughter doesn't breed again. Hysterectomy or something. And take the granddaughter and give her to parents who aren't insane.

My grandmother tried to beat the devil out of me once. She was Catholic and very religious. I was listening to rock music and she said it was of the devil. I told her I didn't feel like argueing and she blind-sided me in the jaw. Then she got a broom, stood over me, and said she would beat the devil out of me if I didn't watch my mouth.
