The trick is that it must be grilled, preferrably charcol. It doesn't have a spicy flavor to it, so everyone should enjoy it. Here it is:

Carne Asada - East L.A. Style - courtesy of Miss LuLu

You need:
skirt steak (red meat)
Lawry's seasoning salt
Garlic powder
Black pepper
Fresh lemon juice
Fresh chopped garlic (i like fresh along with some of the garlic powder)

Marinate (preferrably 24 hours) skirt steak with Lawrys, garlic powder, black pepper and chopped garlic. Make sure to cover all the meat with fresh squeezed lemon juice. It's okay if you get some seeds in there. Don't worry, they'll drop thru the grates of the grill when you cook it. I've tried cooking this on the stove in a skillet and it just really doesn't taste the same. It needs that outdoor, charcol flavor. Serve with a green salad/ranch dressing, some refried beans and tortillas (you eat the meat out of the tortillas). If you don't have a good mexican place around to buy refried beans, just buy some Rosarita refried beans with some shredded cheese on top. Deeelish!

P.S. Some people like to marinate the meat with beer too, but it's not really my thing.
