I saw a response to a question regarding WalMart.

Our friend Fireball226 says that where she lives, she has no choice - its either buy clothes online at Kmart, or go to Walmart...

I live near San Francisco. We have malls, all kinds of stores, etc. Im just curious....does living in the midwest suck that bad?? Is there ONLY Kmarts and WalMarts to shop at for clothing choices?? If so, I say we all take up a collection and send Fireball a pair of jeans that wont fall apart in a washing machine after three cycles....

Fireball226 - I feel bad for you. I didnt know life was that bad out there in middle America...

If my choices were WalMart or Kmart, Id be barefoot and preg.....hey wait a sec!!!

It depends on where you are, a city or a small town. Here in Knoxville we have Targets, malls, etc., but a lot of towns near here are more limited and you might have to drive an hour into Knoxville to get to anything more than a Walmart and a Dollar Store. Of course, I usually by clothes where they're cheap since I don't have much money. I do often have to order books or CDs online, though, since local store often don't have what I want in those departments.

Parts of the Bible Belt are as she describes.

I live in Atlanta, and it's definitely a blue state city centered in the middle of a very red state.

Fireball is either a troll or an alien.

I live in the Southern U.S., very much in the Bible Belt, and of course, there are malls and boutiques in the South. There are many options, including that of purchasing from independent clothing designers. There's more to life than Wal-Mart.

I live in Texas. I wouldn't wear Walmart clothes if you paid me. They fall apart in a week.
My closet has Gap, Banana republic, Old Navy, Target, Lerner, Express, The Buckle...my point is I live in the Bible Belt and I have PLENTY of shopping. Now if you live in some rinky dink town, then yeah, walmart is probably your only choice.

Luckily, Texas seems to be the border between that and the rest of the Mid-West (Or at least around Dallas is, our Wal-Mart doesn't even sell clothes)

I'd rather buy a pair of pants that actually costs how much it took to make it than go to a mall and pay $200 for the EXACT same pair of pants just because it has someone's name on it.

I live in the bible belt. We do have malls. But to be honest, most people here do shop at wal-mart. It's way cheaper to go there than the mall.

Personally, I think wal-mart and k-mart both blow.
